  1. Don't the Sox have Anaheim first?
  2. Well...I hate it...but the Yanks deserved this with everything they went through this year. So...congrats...from one disgruntled Sox fan to some Yanks fans.
  3. ...he didn't look stupid only after last night. He looked like an absolute moron after blowing that 3 run lead he inherited a few nights ago.
  4. Who gives a s*** what they do with it? He's taking his own time, as a fan, to write and express his displeasure with how they've been handling the team.
  5. If anything, sending a message to the management explaining how he feels is a sign of a great fan that cares.
  6. Yeah, I guess I'm a little greedy when it comes to the relief help. I suppose I've just been so irritated with our shittiness lately it's starting to get to my head. I honestly can't say what I would have done in terms of relief help... I'm just hoping there's a good FA market for relievers. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Gagne (with lots of incentives in the contract, not too much guaranteed money), and picking up Francisco Cordero. Maybe take a chance with Mota? He was pretty good before his injury. I have a good amount of faith that Delcarmen and Hansen will be much better next year, though they will still have some work to do. Any other appealing names? For some reason I thought Mike Gonzalez was a FA. Is that true?
  7. I'm not saying that I blame Theo for the team not making the playoffs. I blame Theo for not doing as much as he could to help our chances. I understand that you can't win every year, and I also realize the luck that's needed. That being said, none of that excuses the fact that Theo didn't do everything he could to help this team's chances. By the time July 31st came around, how long had we known that we needed some serious bullpen help, along with a solid starter that could give us a chance to win when he took the mound? About 2 months. Nothing got done. And that's my point. People are going to think I'm beating a dead horse, but I don't really care because I'm in the correct thread. Letting Damon go was a mistake, and we're watching it happen. Letting Pedro go was a mistake. Not acquiring a starter like Lidle was a mistake. And maybe, just maybe, Theo will get a slap in the face as he watches Damon, Lidle, Abreu, and Pedro play in the '06 world series. But Damon and Pedro weren't worth the money Now we sit back and watch Damon hit 20 doubles a game against us en route to a complete embarrassment of our beloved Red Sox, and watch Pedro tear it up with the Mets. I don't give a s*** if it's in the NL, he's obviously learned how to pitch with his loss of velocity, and he still looks like an overpowering pitcher. Also, if he had some balls, he'd go out and compete for pitchers in the off-season. We wouldn't get stuck with the Clements, Snyders, and Jason Johnsons of the world. Hell, we may actually have an impact starting pitcher or two, because we all know we have the resources to make it happen. This team has been managed in such a way to save us money. Well, goddamn it, use that money that we saved and go out and compete for some friggin' pitching! Look, I like Theo. I'm forever thankful for what he did for us in 2004. It's just that, recently, I've been wondering where his head has been, and I fear it's been up his ass.
  8. I believe he was DFA'd by the D-Backs, which resulted in his release from the team. The Yanks signed him to a minor league contract and recently purchased it.
  9. Re-sign Loretta, and if Pedroia wins the starting job at 2B for '07, then there will be a buyer for Loretta.
  10. I'm not criticizing the Beckett deal. I've been a big supporter of it. However, I do question the boneheaded moves of signing Tavarez and Seanez. I'm not the only one that opposed the signings since day 1. Say all you want about the injuries, but I don't see those as excuses. Tek, sure, I'll make an exception as he is the heart and soul of this team, but the Yankees lost Matsui and Sheffield, and still have Pavano inactive who has a serious case of vaginitis. So what do the Yankees do? They made moves. They went out and got nice bats in Craig Wilson and Bobby Abreu. They also got a back of the end starter in Cory Lidle. What did Theo do? Bryan Corey? Give me a f***ing break. The team's needs were evident for 2 months, and all Theo did was get Bryan Corey who is pitching in AAA at the moment. Say all you want about a re-tooling year, but a team that's re-tooling, which also happens to have a payroll of 120 million dollars, has no excuses to make if they don't make the playoffs.
  11. Because renting a 43 year old pitcher for a month and a half isn't worth it. This team is far away from being fixed by someone like Moyer.
  12. BRACKET ONE Mike Schmidt (Philadelphia Phillies) vs Frank Malzone (Boston Red Sox) Wade Boggs (Boston Red Sox) vs Arlie Latham (St. Louis Browns) Stan Hack (Chicago Cubs) vs Deacon White (Buffalo Bisons) Al Rosen (Cleveland Guardians) vs Ossie Bluege (Washington Senators) Chipper Jones (Atlanta Braves) vs Willie Kamm (Chicago White Sox) Jimmy Collins (Boston Braves) vs Denny Lyons (Philadelphia Athletics) Gary Gaetti (Minnesota Twins) vs Jimmie Dykes (Philadelphia Athletics) Heinie Groh (Cincinnati Reds) vs Bobby Bonilla (Pittsburgh Pirates) BRACKET TWO George Brett (Kansas City Royals) vs Eric Chavez (Oakland Athletics) Frank Baker (Philadelphia Athletics) vs Todd Zeile (St. Louis Cardinals) Ken Boyer (St. Louis Cardinals) vs Bill Bradley (Cleveland Guardians) John McGraw (Baltimore Orioles) vs Billy Nash (Boston Braves) Harlond Clift (St. Louis Browns) vs Freddie Lindstrom (New York Giants) George Kell (Detroit Tigers) vs Doug DeCinces (Baltimore Orioles) Matt Williams (San Francisco Giants) vs Tim Wallach (Montreal Expos) Robin Ventura (Chicago White Sox) vs Richie Hebner (Pittsburgh Pirates) BRACKET THREE Eddie Mathews (Milwaukee Braves) vs Cloyd Boyer (St. Louis Cardinals) Ron Santo (Chicago Cubs) vs Bob Horner (Atlanta Braves) Graig Nettles (New York Yankees) vs Don Money (Milwaukee Brewers) Sal Bando (Milwaukee Brewers) vs Ned Williamson (Chicago Cubs) Bob Elliott (Pittsburgh Pirates) vs Howard Johnson (New York Mets) Lave Cross (Philadelphia Phillies) vs Carney Lansford (Oakland Athletics) Scott Rolen (Philadelphia Phillies) vs Larry Gardner (Boston Red Sox) Toby Harrah (Texas Rangers) vs Terry Pendleton (St. Louis Cardinals) BRACKET FOUR Brooks Robinson (Baltimore Orioles)vs Heinie Zimmerman (Chicago Cubs) Darrell Evans (San Francisco Giants) vs Vince Castino (Chicago White Sox) Pie Traynor (Pittsburgh Pirates) vs Larry Parrish (Texas Rangers) Ron Cey (Los Angeles Dodgers) vs Buddy Lewis (Washington Senators) Buddy Bell (Texas Rangers) vs Red Rolfe (New York Yankees) Bill Madlock (Pittsburgh Pirates) vs Whitey Kurowski (St. Louis Cardinals) Eddie Yost (Washington Senators) vs Bill Joyce (New York Giants) Ken Caminiti (Houston Astros) vs Ken Keltner (Cleveland Guardians) Sorry for the low amount of responses, Matt. Just understand that with everything going on with the Sox it's kind of hard to focus on something like this now. I'm sure you understand though.
  13. Moyer's not even worth spending money on. This team isn't going anywhere, and the last thing they need to do is throw money away by renting 43 year old pitchers for a month and a half.
  14. Why the hell would the Tigers be interested in Loretta? I know he's hurt, but they have Polanco driving in runs for them when they need them most, he's also playing great defense, and to tell the truth I'd rather have Polanco than Loretta. Besides, now Pudge can play 2B apparently , and Infante fills in just fine. I don't see any reason for the Tigers to trade any of their pitching. They have the best pitching staff in the MLB, why the hell would they trade ANY of it away? Pitching is what wins championships... That said, I'm not saying Arroyo should have stayed, and I'm hoping this thread doesn't turn into a WMP/Arroyo argument. Besides, the circumstances are different.
  15. Oh, ok, makes sense. Haha, I thought this was a completely random thing which came out of nowhere But I guess not.
  16. In Theo we....don't trust...anymore.
  17. No, I think it was more Beckett was thrown in so the Marlins would get rid of Lowell.
  18. Alright... Like I said, I still don't quite understand why the 1986 Mets are the team you choose out of all the other teams. I mean, I get why you did, but I don't know what makes them so special. I mean, going by reason 1, you could just post a picture of Buckner, or a picture of Bucky Dent. Aaron Boone. I don't get why the whole Mets team. And reason 2, "the freakin' New York Mets," doesn't really mean much...the Mets aren't the Yankees so I don't see what's wrong with them.
  19. No, I get it, but I don't understand why you didn't choose the '67 Cardinals, the '75 Reds...
  20. Is that the 1986 Mets? And why do they belong on my dart board?
  21. I think you're making a last resort attempt to not make yourself look like a complete moron. He's not the only one that didn't believe you. In case you didn't notice, your timing in all of your comments is a bit off.
  22. But isn't a struggling pitcher a bad pitcher? Right now, he's bad.
  23. Give him this year to adjust. He's adjusting at a young age and I believe he'll be an ace. Assess the contract 2 years from now. Young pitchers going from the NL to AL require a bit of patience, and with Beckett, it's something I'm willing to give.
