I agree with benching Coco. He's done nothing but suck. I can give up some defense to have a bat in the lineup that has the potential to crank one into NH at any given moment. That said, WMP isn't a horrendous defensive CF, he's average. He's below average at the corners. For some reason he can read the ball off the bat a little better in CF. That said, I would rather have Ellsbury called up. He's already shown that he can rake at all the levels he's been at so far, and he's adjusted relatively quickly from what I remember. He would be a better bat than Crisp and he'd be just as good a defender, if not better, than Crisp.
Next, I think you have to leave Lugo at SS. Sure, he sucks major cock, but so does Cora given regular playing time. At least Lugo has some speed. And, if he's batting in the 9 hole, he's where the sucky players are supposed to be.
I think Drew can find his way out of the slump more than the other guys can. My ideal lineup:
Ellsbury
Pedroia
Ortiz
Ramirez
Lowell
Youkilis
Drew
Varitek
Lugo
If no Ellsbury, then:
Youkilis
Pedroia
Ortiz
Ramirez
Lowell
Pena
Drew
Varitek
Lugo
I liked CrespoBlows's lineup from the other thread.
As far as trades go, I have no idea. I would ship Lugo out and eat his salary if it means bringing in an upgrade. I would also package Coco with someone else to beef up the bullpen a bit, or land a nice starter (thereby giving Lester the year in AAA and filling a hole in the rotation next year).
