  1. So... Uh... Nice day here in Michigan. Anything going on in the Sox game? Kelly's pitching acceptably, you say? That's nice... So does he get another inning? It's pretty impressive that he's sitting at +\- 96 mph after almost 100 pitches. The break must have done him some good.
  2. Lance McCullers. Young guy making his first start of the year (shoulder problems). An effective pitcher last year. Probably wishing his season debut could be against the Braves instead of the painful reality. Speaking of the Braves, in the last 4 games the Sox have scored just over half as many runs (51) as the Braves have scored all year so far (101).
  3. The Sox are definitely spoiling us here, eh? I'll admit to feeling the same way as you, though of course mentally one agrees with Dojji: let's just keep racking up the W's.
  4. PTBNL is Yu Darvish, according to my sources.
  5. The starters are taking a lot of heat on Talksox, and rightly so, but our 'pen has been atrocious too. Miley deserved better than what he got in his last two outings.
  6. Yes, please. Just watched the Napoli "double" from last inning. It's nice to see the other team pulling a bonehead for once. It's like when I'm out in town and I see some kid throwing a tantrum and acting like a barbarian -- I pump my fist and say, "Yes! This time it's not my kid!"
  7. Glad I was wrong. I'm sure our deep and talented bullpen will shut the 'Stros down for the rest of the game.
  8. Seriously? Tazawa comes in and gives up SB, double, double, single? A 2 run deficit is totally insurmountable with the way we've been playing. Pathetic.
  9. I am not prone to salty langauge but the Sox are sorely tempting me.
  10. Are we going to try to set a franchise record for consecutive losses? Consecutive games where the other team scores first? If so, Joe's our guy!
  11. Oh, I hear you. It's all the more frustrating because watching the young guys is so exciting and then the others take a big ol' steaming... well, you get the idea.
  12. What hacks me off (or grinds my gears, to stay in the Talksox framework) is that we have the skeleton of a really good team here. Bogaerts and Betts are just studs. Pedey's still more or less got it, Swihart looks good for a promoted-too-fast catcher, Hanley can mash if you can get him off the field, etc. But there's so much garbage that it's hard to see that skeleton coming alive anytime soon.
  13. I don't know about there being very few to root for -- Betts, Bogaerts, Pedroia, Holt, Swihart, Rodriguez, Taz, Koji... heck, I even like rooting for Buchholz (glutton for punishment, I guess). But there are certainly an inordinate number of guys that are actively hard to root for: Panda, Nap, Porcello, Masterson, Hanley...
  14. I actually liked the idea of bringing him back, and was fairly happy to see him. BUT, as you said, ONLY on a And yes, NativeBostonian, I also think Ben has lost his job. He put together a crap team. That's his job and his responsibility.
  15. I know we joke about "DFA Pedroia!" and "DFA Papi!", but seriously... DFA Masterson. We were actually in this game when he entered. That changed in a big hurry. Can't imagine why we'd keep him on the roster at this point rather than letting some Pawsox hurler get a chance.
  16. We SCORED!!!! A strange and oddly warming sensation!
  17. No point in sending him to Pawtucket; he may as well get his on-the-job training in the bigs. It's not like he's the weak link in an otherwise playoff-caliber rotation.
  18. Well that got out of hand quickly. Good thing we don't have a doubleheader tod--... Oh.
