  1. Remdawg mentioned tonight that Sox want to get to pen ASAP due to injuries. I am not sure exactly who all is hurting.
  2. It's so cold in Clvlnd tonight that Remdawg just said Westbrook "pissed on that pitch" instead of "missed on that pitch" when he BB'd Tek.
  3. CLEVELAND Guardians INJURIES C.C. Sabathia 15-Day DL Apr. 23 Travis Hafner Day-To-Day Apr. 23 Rafael Betancourt 15-Day DL Apr. 22 Matt Miller 15-Day DL Apr. 22 Fernando Cabrera 15-Day DL Apr. 18 Steve Karsay Apr. 21
  4. I disagree that it would really interfere with the game. The potential earning of an out is TOTALLY at the manager's discretion. He decides. He takes the risk. Manager's put in pinch runners, hitters, steal signs, four outfielder shifts, all which have the potential to interfere with the game. Managers also issue intentional walks. Losing an out for a bad challenge would be on the same level.
  5. Good point Rivernator only know that Clement was quoted either during the off season or at the start of this one that the injury had an effect on his performance. I don't remember if he said it was just his fielding. But anyway, he seems fully recovered right now from whatever it was.
  6. Hey ksushi, Have you seen the promotion on MLB.TV for "mosaic" feature coming in "mid-April"? It looks like we will be able to get 6 thumbnail videocasts/live games all on one screen. As usual, they are late getting it up, (heh, heh), but I am looking forward to seeing it. I don't think they are going to charge us additional.
  7. Tejada just hit a solo against the Unit. Yes!!!! (not the network :-) )
  8. Don't forget that Clement took a line drive to the temple at mid-point last season.
  9. The spell it "defence" they spelled defense wrong. Either spelling is acceptable.
  10. It throws alot at you and very fast. You will see an incredible number of shots of our amazing bats. I only wish they showed more of the opposing pitchers in those scenes but it doesn't matter given the amount of excitement the whole production creates. The soundtrack is very good too. Buy it and crank up your speakers but get everybody out of the house first!
  11. Phew! Pedro squeezed outta that one! Man o man!
  12. One of the funniest, all-time posts at BDG's. I don't get the Reagan/Nancy photo of today though.
  13. i think i will. you know i have to do a final report on a piece of writing. maybe ill do yours... lol Alright!! And you're alright, Yanks Hater.
  14. Maybe Curt Schilling will get in on this? One day he WILL visit this site. If so, I hope he wins. We Bosoxer's need as many wins as we can get, huh?
  15. Yawkeyway, Your beliefs about D-Lowe have solid grounding, (sorry Pokey): His performances of late look like the Dow Jones Industrial chart from 1929-30. And Peter Gammons, although he does not put it in as stong terms, agrees with you to some extent, (WEEI radio Thursday), that management may want to start shopping Lowe but not immediately. For now and for THIS depression I think we should continue taking the long view. And I say that because, (and in line with your historical/logical bent), as you zoom away from that Dow Jones chart of '29-'30 you start seeing some pretty amazing upturns in the bigger picture. Thanks for all your good thoughts. Signed, Polly Anna(ish)
  16. Sorry Suck but I only get to visit this fine site once in a while. And think about this...there's a possible plus side to long, boring posts you know... If someone on this board is a student, maybe you (?), he/she can add my post to his/her summer reading list, do a book report on it, and get credit for reading a Greek tragedy...that's our Sox! Signed, Evelyn Wood
  17. Tough question. But before addressing it, a comment on today's Boston radio chatter and the general RSN reaction about our pitching woes... All I can say is that I am always very interested in learning fans' reactions to our Bosox; to me, fellow-fan reaction is important to hear and I often relate players' daily performances with my own daily sales results on the job. Like many of you out there and like any professional baseball player, I have to put a number up on the board every day and for all to see. After listening to this day's RSN radio comments, I am glad that most of the callers are not my boss. Bearing that in mind, Lowe is a head case right now. I believe he can settle down. Unless he has detected some mechanical problems that Lowe has developed, the coach should concentrate on ways to get this man's competitive spirit firmed-up. This "man-child" mentality we see on the mound has to go. It's something Lowe can control. In addition, Pedro is a very intelligent pitcher. He's lost his competitive edge with speed. His coach needs to continue working with him to bring his pitching intelligence to a new level. What is that? I do not know. That's their job to figure out. But Pedro is a smart and cagey personality, (with us fans too).... he can fathom it. That's something Pedro can control and hopefully get some help from a guy who I hear is one of the best pitching coaches in the business. Next, that Vlad Guerrerro, (sp.) guy is from the Dominican and so is Enrique Wilson. Dominicans are not intimidated by Pedro. Think about it...if Al Gore were your next door neighbor when you were growing up and years later you were in a presidential debate with him would you answer him seriously when he threw you the pitch that he invented the internet? Or would you just just double over in laughter and then come up with your old neighborhood left uppercut and send him to the moon? That's that way we locals treat our locals. Finally, I think that Baltimore and Anaheim batters were just plain-old more juiced-up, (on adrenelin that is), to beat us than our pitchers were to beat them. They wanted it more. That's it from here. We'll come out of this. Don't trade Lowe. Don't place Pedro fifth in the rotation and geez, get that pitching coach two smart pills to take tonight and NOT call the bullpen in the morning!
  18. It doesn't matter right now. At this writing, Anaheim is battling the MFY's 0-0 in late innings and MFY's Vasquez, (however his name is spelled), is not giving up. It's past midnight (EST) and I can't believe I am still up watching MFY's vs Angels. As the TV announcer just said, "Who's gonna make the first mistake?" to win this game. I need to go to bed and ready for work tomorrow and the Red Sox better be damn ready for Anaheim when they meet. The Angels are TOUGH. Go Bosox.
  19. Thanks for your response. To answer your question, while I was looking through that night's game program I had the same thought about affiliations but here was no mention of one, so I emailed them. They wrote me back and NO TEAM in their "Atlantic League" has a major league affilliation. Basically, major league teams recruit from the Atlantic League and probably pay a good penny to get the talent; I'm told however, that the Nashua team is having a tough time financially and is having difficulty paying the rent. I think the team is 6 years old. And maybe I was misinformed calling it AA ball because you probably need a major league affiliation to use the A, AA or AAA designations? On your comment about, "the basics are so engrained in their minds...", I think that's the problem that the BDD writer was talking about....that the number of outs, so basic to ever Red Sox player, is NOT engrained in their minds. So maybe "chatter" isn't what I'm after, maybe it's just my liking to see/hear a consistent, every game, every half-inning loud shout by the captain, catcher, whomever, that there are 1 or 2 freak'in outs! And congrats to you on a great site. Thanks for all your hard work. I enjoy it.
  20. Was just over at the BDD site and there's an editorial about how the Bosox are frequently losing track of the number of outs while on defense and offense. The writer gives a good summary and numerous examples of Boston players' mental lapses from this season and last season. He makes the point that this "little league" stuff has to stop. The writer suggests money fines as a solution. That's "fine" but there's more that can be done. As an example, I had the pleasure of going to a Somerset Patriots vs Nashua Pride (AA) game last Saturday night. Nice little ballpark in Nashua and a crowd of about 2,200. Anyway, after the thunderstorm and 1/2 the fans left you would have sworn you were taking in a game at old Exhibition Stadium (now closed, been there) or a sold out Skydome (never been there) in Toronto! My point is you could hear a pin drop in the place. So after the thunderstorm, "the silence was deafening", and our Nashua Pride was taking it on the chin, (the score was something like 13 to 2 in the 7th), and it occurred to me how there was absolutely no infield chatter going on among the players (both teams). Unless they just graduated from a new, secret sign language course that we don't know about there was NO COMMUNICATION with the pitcher or among themselves. It must not be cool to chatter anymore. It' geeky. Maybe if the Red Sox "Geeked Up" a little more rather than "Cowboy'd Up", it would 'cool' a few of their opponents down instead of themselves. What do you think? Pride Post Script: It was a treat to witness Butch Hobson coaching third for Nashua while it was defended by 3B'man (Billy?) Nettles, son of Graig Nettles. What made the scene even more fun to savor is the fact that, (I think), Hobson and Graig Nettles played against each other in the '70's. History makes it interesting doesn't it? And get this, there was another manager watching from the Patriots dugout and taking it all in...his name is Sparky Lyle. Except for the loss and wet seat after the storm, an EXCEPTIONAL baseball night at AA ball.
  21. Yeah, I chose the "simple" and the "stupid" I guess.
  22. I voted for Ramirez. It's a tough and interesting question. Before reading the posts I was thinking Pedro is the guy. Predominantly, this thread believes that trying to answer this survey is a Catch-22 situation and I agree. I decided to use the KISS principle and decided that Pedro gets what, 30 starts with an opportunity to win 30 games? Manny gets 150+ starts with the opportunity to win 'em all. Simplistic but that's how my finite brain emerged from the, (whaddayacallit?) the "cononundrum" (sp.), posed by our fine fellow fan.
