  1. 23 of the teams we face are under .500. I say that gives us a huge advantage over the yankees. They're gonna get mowed down by the A's big three the way they're playing. The sox better capitalize or else I'm going to be pissed off at them. I want the yankees to suffer!
  2. Sigh, an off day. There's nothing worse.
  3. I still think Tek is better than Posada, no matter what Posada hits. The reason he is underrated (yes underrated, not overrated) is because no one appreciates how he calls a game. Lets face it, most people are casual fans. They dont care if a catcher wants it low and away, they just want homeruns and strikeouts. Tek has caught two no hitters in his career, from pitchers who you wouldnt expect to throw them. That says something about him. He knows what to throw and when to throw it. That is the genius of Jason Varitek.
  4. Wow. 7 strikeouts now. I'm starting to get worried. I'd be really worried if we didnt have pedro on the hill. But he is giving up some walks and stuff like that. Hopefully we can just scratch away and come up with a win. YESYESYESYEYSEYSYESY AHAHAHA!! So much for great pitching vazquez. I take back what I said.
  5. Pokey just did it now, trying to beat out a bunt. I now see how pointless it is. Just an injury waiting to happen. Grrr, stop it players!
  6. Wow. Vazquez is on. 6 K's through 3. Pedro just took a shot off his foot, here's hoping he's ok. I'm not sure if Vaz can last long enough to help the yankees win. He's only pitched on 3 days rest once in his career.
  7. Big deal if you know what its gonna do. You try hitting that 90 mph cutter. It moves like 3 feet! Down the plate and then POW, its coming towards your head. Plus he knows where and when to throw it. Trust me, he isnt just lucky, although I wish that was all. Manny on 3rd with one out now. Come on.
  8. He's in the pen as I type this. He may be coming into this really close game (sox v mfy). That'll really test him I guess. But I do like what I've seen so far.
  9. Wow. Its a mix of excitement and dissapointment for me. 0-18 makes me say: "wtf". That is terrible. From a decent hitting team you'd expect at LEAST 3-18 or more, not an ofer. MAAAAAAAANYYYY OHHHH!!!!!!! NO! That was sooooo close. That reminds me, another thing. So many balls have been knocked down its ridiculous. Manny just put a charge in one and ortiz did earlier that resulted in an out. What is going on with Yankee Stadium.
  10. I'm far from a pats fan, I watch the games with some interest but I don't really follow. I couldn't tell you the difference between the field goal kicker and the running back. With that in mind, I was wondering what the pat's offseason moves have been and if they're improving. I guess we can also use this as discussion. Isnt the draft today as well?
  11. Yankees should be lower.
  12. Wow. I've never seen a group of people other than ourselves like this. They talk about how its over already and how the boss needs to make some huge moves to get the yankees back in contention and how the team is pathetic and how some even want to give up on them What kinds of fans give up on a team when they are slightly under .500 15 games into the season? Yankee fans I guess. I dont understand, but I dont feel bad either thats for sure. We now have something to fall back on when they turn back into their regular selves later on in the season. "remember how you almost gave up on your team after they went 8-9? Yea, you're a fairweather fan, dont gloat in my face."
  13. Bellhorn was making some nice plays over there at third. He also hit that cheap home run. I'm starting to really like him. It almost makes up for the loss of T-walk in my mind.
  14. http://www.soxprospects.com/players/dinardo-leonard.htm Those are his stats, and a little blurb on him: According to Theo Epstein: Dinardo is a very crafty lefty. His stuff does not blow you away, but he really knows how to pitch. He changes speeds, he has a good changeup, he's tough on righties with his changeup. If he sticks, it will be as a left-handed long guy. A guy to turn a lineup around.
  15. ah, that was one of the more satisfying routes I've seen in a long time. I hope we can keep it up. The sox also showed a lot of speed on the basepaths, Burks/Damon/Reese all stole. That made me happy as well.
  16. Is there a big enough want for a fantasy baseball section, maybe under the general baseball talk? I'd like to get advice from fellow sox/baseball fans, for sure, and I bet others would too. Any opinions on it?
  17. I can't wait to see the mfy fans and their reaction to the sox. How does losing 3 out of 4 feel? They're just bitter.
  18. Arent all supplements steroids? I think they should all be illegal, whatever you want to call it. Although I am amazed by what he is doing, and I certainly think he has a ton of talent, the steroids thing has tainted his image for me. I'm not his biggest fan, lets just leave it at that.
  19. Amen to that. And putting him in again only to give up 2 walks. I still have no idea what was going through his mind. He's falling fast on my "How much do I like this manager" scale.
  20. If the sox fail to sign Varitek amid the whole free agent disaster, what then? Do we sign Mirabelli as our regular, everyday catcher? Do we wait for Shoppach? Or do we sign a one or two year free agent in the interim while we wait for Shoppach? Or will the sox just sign Varitek, lol. I think that if he ISNT signed, I hope he will be but if he ISNT, then Mirabelli is far from a good option. I get nervous every time Wake pitches beacuse that means Mirabelli. It seems like he has trouble catching a lot of pitches, and despite what he's done recently, his bat is far from golden. Shoppach is the answer for me.
  21. What are the best seats at Fenway in your opinion? I think its either the Green Monster seats (duh, especially after looking over yeszir's pictures) or third base side, about 15 rows up. That gets ya a nice view of the action.
  22. Hi, My name's Brad and I live in Boston. I've been following and loving the Red Sox for all of my life and, through the heartbreak, I've remained loyal. I look forward to chatting it up with you guys.
