  1. f***ing Hollweg man. They score 2 goals to tie it quickly in the second, and then he takes a STUPID double-minor boarding penalty in the offensive zone to kill all the momentum. Gino scores and that's all she wrote. I really hope the Rangers don't mail it in. One guy who definitely won't is Jaromir Jagr. He could be playing his last NHL game, and he is playing like a man possessed. I hope he keeps playing, because he looks unbelievable. For a team down 3-0, they sure do look pretty good. I know there aren't very good odds on coming back from this deficit, but it all starts Thursday. Win and then we move on from there. Lundqvist is going to need to step up and play a spectacular game, and the powerplay needs to get going now. No more excuses, let's just win one.
  2. The ice was absolutely horrible, and Pittsburgh got a few good bounces. The officiating has not been very good or consistent, with the notable dives by Cindy Crosby going unpunished. A phantom call on Straka vs. Crosby put Pittsburgh on the last powerplay that they won the game on. Bettman wants Crosby to advance, and the referees have a different rule book in place for their star. All that said, the Rangers need to simply play better if they want to advance. The lineup should have a little more pop tomorrow night, with Prucha getting minutes on the second line and Shanahan conserving energy taking 4th line minutes. Sjostrom and Betts with Shanahan would be a good defensive matchup against Crosby, and Renney will have the opportunity to put them out there with the last change at home. Prucha with Avery and Gomez also will have a high motor and lots of scoring ability for a second line. On the bright side, Lundqvist has been brilliant. He'll have to continue to be for the Rangers to have a shot. If the Rangers can't get it going with this lineup, the series will be very short.
  3. I don't get what's so difficult about the rulebook. Cross checking is a penalty. High sticking is a penalty. If you can't keep your composure around a guy like Avery, you should be penalized for it. What Avery does is annoying, but not illegal. He's certainly not the first agitator in the league. If you're good enough, it shouldn't make a difference what a little s*** like Avery says on the ice. Beat him on the scoreboard. That's all that matters. That's what you're paid to do. People bitch and bitch and bitch about Sean Avery. How about ignoring him and beating his team? The more you whine about him, the more he's done his job.
  4. The Blake thing was not true. Blake said it himself. He fought Laperriere. http://hockeyfights.com/fights/29316 The only fight I found against New Jersey was against David Clarkson, not Zack Parise. Clarkson is an enforcer for New Jersey. Avery went after Clarkson after he took a shot at Roszival. He was coming off a wrist injury and was still willing to stick up for his teammate. http://hockeyfights.com/fights/42680 On the play, Drury came over and told Avery to keep his stick down, so he wouldn't accidentally clip a player or the puck with it. Defensemen are still allowed to clear players out of the crease. If the referees called half the interference on the Devils that they should have, the Rangers would spend the entire game on the powerplay. Maybe they crack down on interference during the regular season, but nothing changed in the playoffs. Several players have called what Avery did creative, including Zack Parise. He found something that wasn't illegal and took advantage of it. Overall Avery's job is to get into Brodeur's head, and he has done that since he's been here. He's a needed ingredient for a team that was way too soft before he arrived.
  5. I wish I had known that article was by Strachan before I read it. He's a former Toronto columnist, and is noted for his "controversial" opinions. (IE- He makes stupid remarks to spark debate and get notoriety.) Toronto hates Avery because he's just like Darcy Tucker, but better at it. And Brodeur's quotes completely contradict himself. I thought you've been hearing this since 2003, surely you can think of a comeback beforehand that you can translate. You've also been playing in New Jersey since 1993. You've done thousands of interviews with local reporters. You're still struggling with this French-English translation? You're not that slow, are you Marty? I mean, Henrik Lundqvist has come here from Sweden, and he seems pretty quick with his responses in English. The article goes on to say that the Rangers lost in overtime. It doesn't mention the Devils scored 3 goals on deflections off Rangers, including the overtime winner. It doesn't mention that Brodeur speared Avery in the groin during his "screen" (which is way more illegal and dangerous than anything Avery was doing). It also amazingly fails to mention that Avery scored moments after setting these screens in front of Brodeur. And isn't it the defenseman's job to clear out the crease so Avery can't do what he was doing? There shouldn't be a rule change because the New Jersey defense can't do its job. No way that Scott Stevens would have allowed Avery to get away with what he was doing.
  6. Brodeur got divorced because he was cheating on his wife with his sister-in-law. "Uncle Daddy" brought that on himself. I thought the play Avery made was creative, hysterical, and effective. He got Brodeur off his game, and shortly thereafter put the puck in the net on that powerplay. The play he made was not illegal at the time. Now it is. http://rangers.lohudblogs.com/2008/04/14/the-avery-rule/ Brodeur had been slashing and punching Avery all game whenever he went to the front of the net. He also pulled an amazing flop when Avery was in the crease to draw a goaltender interference penalty. Watch the replay of it. Brodeur initiated contact with Avery, fell backwards, and drew a powerplay. His flopping and histrionics are more embarrassing than anything Avery did in front of the net. He was setting a screen. I've never heard Avery being accused of being a character guy. He's an agitator. And he's probably the best in the league. He also has 3 goals and an assist in 3 playoff games so far. I'm glad he's on my team.
  7. He was placed on the bereavement list. Albaladejo was called up for at least 3 days.
  8. f***ing pathetic overtime by the Rangers. Awful. Now they have a series again.
  9. http://techzoogle.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/panic%20button.jpg Jesus Christ. It's a 162 game season. Be happy the pitching has been good. The offense will come. Just like it always does.
  10. He's right. You're dumb.
  11. Let's go Irish. First #4 seed ever in the Frozen Four or National Championship.
  12. Habs in 6 Pens in 7 Caps in 7 Rangers in 5 Wings in 4 Sharks in 5 Wild in 6 Ducks in 6
  13. Good thing Detroit is playing like crap.
  14. Would've been a popup Fenway Park special homerun too.
  15. Melky Cabrera day at the Stadium. Fun night.
  16. It's a joke. He thought there weren't any, and you rattled off several.
  17. I honestly don't see what's so bad with that bullpen. Time will tell how it works out, but there are some good arms in there capable of getting innings together. I don't see why the starters 'need to get to 7 innings'. Regardless, we have the offense to handle potential liabilities.
  18. Yeah, Giambi hit like .400 this spring. He sucks. It makes no sense to go with the hot hand in the 5 slot. Stupid Girardi. Fire him already. I'll be in the bleachers, somewhere. I'm excited.
  19. Last year the I was at the last regular season game at MSG, and it was Rangers vs. Habs, the game the Rangers clinched a playoff spot. Montreal had their contingent in the Garden, and the fans were pretty obnoxious throughout. Rangers won in regulation, so it wasn't too bad. That said, I'm not too fond of Canadien fans. They're a little over the top when it comes to booing an offsides or penalty call when it is blatantly correct, but against Montreal. I thought a hockey town would be a little more educated than that, and not whine so much. (Obviously not directed toward you, BoSox). I give them credit for being lively though. It's one of the few arenas where the fans can impact the game.
  20. Sure he won 38 games the last two years, but he pitched bad in the playoffs. He's going to be a s***** #2 starter at best this year.
  21. Who says a scoreless game can't be exciting?
