  1. I think that cartoonist is from Boston, or at least a Boston fan. He mentions the sox a lot too. It's also the funniest comic out there today.
  2. But the argument here isn't over whether steroids cause your balls to shrink. Steroids in baseball is cheating, side effects or not. I don't care what Canseco or anyone chooses to inject into their bodies, they could shoot maple syrup for all I care. But if what they choose gives them an unfair, illegal advantage over others, than it's got to be made illegal in baseball.
  3. The official talksox league can be found here: http://www.talksox.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2751
  4. By the way, this is going to be the official talksox league.
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50738&item=6154025085&rd=1 $335 with one day left for the one that he just posted, not the one he won. Wow. Big spender!
  6. I won't be joining, I can never sustain interest in these things, but a word of warning: don't join unless you plan to commit. Nothing sucks more than a dead league. Case in point, the sim league.
  7. Nice fingernails bitch. Anyway, nice sign. Was it an ebay purchase?
  8. He was released from the hospital today, and appears to be greatly recovered: http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2005/02/18/bruschi_leaves_hospital_after_mild_stroke/
  9. But they can still sell similar ones for $3,000 a piece to fans.
  10. Oh, I thought you were being a bitch and advocating the other side. Instead you were pointing out how it could only be beneficial to present the rings. Gotcha.
  11. I'm glad to hear he's getting better. Best of luck to him. Although it's sad to hear that he may be forced into retirement, it's better to be safe than sorry. To experience a stroke at 31, or however old he is, is definitely scary. If he is indeed done with football, the patriots will be a very different team without him. He kinda symbolized what they were all about. Oh, and calvnhobs ate sushi with him one time. Supposedly he's a really nice guy.
  12. You watch. (haha!) I'll probably be the closest out of all of you.
  13. His walks don't count as at bats. 568 + 82 + 6 = 656. Walks and HBP dont count as at bats. I'm sure one other is accounted for somehow, but I'm not sure. I hope that answers your question. Welcome to the site by the way.
  14. Exactly. Everyone would win if the sox are finally presented with rings during opening day against the yankees. Think about it. All of New England would watch.
  15. Plus this comes at an ever heightening rivalry between the two teams. If this is an effort to cool tempers on both sides, I don't like it. It's good to have the teams consider each other the enemy. I'm sick and tired of passionate fans and apathetic players. I want to see Carlton Fisk take on the entire Yankees team. I want this to get old school, not necessarily throw-zimmer-to-the-ground intense, but intense enough so that players will dislike each other and actually care about "the rivalry". I also want to see the look on arod's face.
  16. So now the sox head honchos are saying its a no go on the ring ceremony in front of the yankees for the home opener. That's crap. Since when do we need to bend over backwards for a team that has tortured us for years and years? The sox owe this to the fans. At this point, I don't care one ounce for what Afraud and Cashman and Steinbrenner and the like would feel when all of the players are presented their rings. Doing it otherwise would be wrong. I would feel cheated if they were presented before an Orioles game or, god forbid, a D-Rays game. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=69016
  17. Guys, lets think about who won it all in the past 3 years. The Angels. The Marlins, who everyone picked to finish horribly that year, and the Red Sox. This in mind, here's my severely shaken up predictions (based on nothing at all): AL East: Red Sox Al Central: Twins Al West: Rangers Wildcard: Yankees NL East: Mets NL Central: Cubs NL West: Diamondbacks (haha!) Wildcard: Padres ALDS: Sox over Twins, Rangers over Yankees NLDS: Mets over Padres, Cubs over Dbacks ALCS: Rangers over Sox (who knows) NLCS: Cubs over Padres WS: Cubs over Rangers in 6. I'm unique.
  18. I see Sheets and Prior ahead of Santana. People seem to have forgotten about prior after last year too.
  19. No. Haha, just kidding. Changed.
  20. I'm gonna go with Ortiz. It just seems like he's the most lovable.
  21. A great teammate and a great man!
  22. It's really hard to predict what the next season will bring. It's anticipated more than a season has ever been, but at the same time, the monkey seems to be off of the team's back and the air around them seems to be a bit looser. If anything the season will be more fun, knowing that we can compete with the yankees when it counts. Starting off against them in both openers will be amazing to say the least.
  23. But welcome to the site, despite the bizarre story!
  24. What you posted.
  25. I may add it if I get around to it. Its like, a 6 click process, which is faaaaaaaaar too much work for me right now. I'm lazy.
