    I guess the question is do you just ouright bench him at the risk of missing out on potentially good performance, or do you sacrifice other good performance for a few games to see if Nixon can perform better. That's actually worded really confusingly. In any case, we're at the point of the season where every game counts, so experimenting can become risky.

    Part of me wants to say he doesnt fit in, but another part of me knows that, being the type of guy he is, all of this speculation and talk of benching him might just drive him to play harder and better. Nixon fits in wherever Tito decides he fits in, and that will undoubtedbly be the wrong decision according to the critics.

    I don't think anyone is bitching about the wins. It's good to win games with bad pitching, since it means you don't lose with bad pitching. But the main argument here is that we beat the Orioles, whoop de doo, now the same pitching that beat the orioles (barely) has to play against the Tigers and the Yankees.

    I think the bright side of this is that, despite its shortcomings, our pitching isn't as bad as it has shown recently. So things have nowhere to go but up. Right?

    It's a pleasant surprise to come home and see encouraging news for the sox for a change.

    Although, I doubt that MLB players need that much motivation from the fans. Sure there's home field advantage and all that based on the fans, but I doubt Manny's gonna strike out or hit a homerun depending on how loud we boo/cheer him.

    I also hear the Sox just signed the catcher from the little league team down the street from me.

    I'm sure some players will hear boos. This is Fenway we're talking about, where the fans are always rabid and into the game. I don't think a 5 game losing streak is gonna be enough to break the bajillion straight sellout streak the sox have going.
