Don't expect all to be Gehrig or Ripken but playing 150 out of 162 should not be unusual. Now they get hurt swinging the bat or running the bases (you fill in the names). Used to be they got hurt crashing into walls or taking a pitch to the head (Tony C). The IR list is longer than the active roster. Image is important. To me Devers looked out of shape (also a bad fielder). Won't compare him to the Panda!
Another "once good" project we over paid for without reasonable results. Add Buehler, Sandoval, and Hendriks. Maybe bring up Tolle? Can it be worse than giving up 2 Homers and being behind 3 in the first inning. Have I seen this movie before?
Since I am a proponent of trading at this deadline, my fear is making a bad deal. The worst Red Sox deadline trade in my baseball memory is Jeff Bagwell for relief pitcher Larry Anderson from the Astros. The Babe was well before my time!
We don't score runs! Back in the day we could win 10-8 - now we lose 3-2 on catchers interference. We have been behind in all 5 games since the All Star game. We must sell because we can't win it all with what we got. Getting in the playoffs and losing is not winning.
Offer both extensions before the trade deadline. 1 year for Chapman and 4 year for Bregman. Hope for home team discount. If they decline - trade them before deadline. This is the business sell high theory as the return should be significant, Both are expected to become free agents after the season. If so the Sox can bid for their services like the other teams.
Thanks for the feedback. Can I delete some of the original? Bottom line - I don't think we are good enough now to win it all. Therefore, I recommend we either buy or sell.
If Yes we stay pat and win it all. If not, do we buy or sell? If buy who and what must we give up? If sell who and what do we get? I am new at this Forum content so let me know where I strayed. I am Sox 42 which tells my age.
