  1. They are going to give up some bats to get whatever SP they seek, I am guessing it is either going to be Max or Bum...It is the only way that trade with Seattle makes any sense
  2. I misunderstood, I thought you were talking right now, because what I said about the yankees is going to happen
  3. what is the delay about? looked like sunshine to me
  4. no way the Padres are parting with that kid
  5. Any particular names, and what would you give up. I am sure the clamoring will grow, after the yankees drop their bomb, they have enough ML ready bats to acquire whoever they want, just a matter of who and how many they are going to part with, I would think they are looking at Max,Bum. I have already resigned myself to this becoming reality sooner rather then later.
  6. yeah agreed, and after he finishes his sentence in Oakland, he will get paid for sure, he would be a good fit in the Shrine, move him to 1B
  7. yeah he must give good head or something, I am still wondering why they let the kid from Colorado go to the damn yankees
  8. Let me guess, Ramirez with his sizzling .205 with 5 dingers and 28 sent home made the cut?
  9. That is a damn sin with the kid, the only 3B who compares with him is the badass in Houston
  10. long term, the Red Sox farm system is making me nervous, I just see all these young hard throwing pitchers...example the guy Thornton that threw last night for the Jays, and he is only one of a slew of guys that come to mind(Rays whole damn staff)and I ask myself, where are the Red Sox scouts with some these guys? Pitching wins championships, and it is not a smart business model to have to go out on the free agent market to acquire it. Way to many misses by the Sox in this area for my liking
  11. Dodgers have always had a real good farm system for years and years
  12. going to see some runs scored today, just need 1 more then the bad guys
  13. Here is what I think we are looking at with Betts. I will compare his 2018 season with the year Yaz had in 67. Not going to get into numbers, but I will talk about the Nation's expectations after the fact. Anyone who goes back that far knows the tremendous pressure that was put on Yaz after that season to repeat it. Although he had some good seasons He never quite approached his magical summer the rest of his career, and in a number of those seasons, the fans and the media let him know it. Yaz had thick skin, not so sure Betts is built the same with regard to his game coming under such scrutiny day after day, year after year. Even though I have been away from Westborough now for almost 50 years,I never got them out of my blood, so I get the passion that is Red Sox Nation. I only wish my older brother Timmy(Cancer took him in August of 01 at 53) had been able to witness the golden age of Boston sports,as I might not ever been a fan or played baseball for that matter. I am at a disadvantage as far as having access to everything written by the Boston media, but I remember how it was when I was a kid, and I do not think it has slacked or changed much since.Takes a mentally tough person to play in both Boston and the Bronx, and is definitely not for everyone. I am not sure Betts has the fortitude for the long haul, SO....do I think Betts is worth a 300 million dollar contract?...nope....do I think he will get that type contract....given the hyper inflated society we live in these days in which bankers are allowed to create 'money' out of thin air, I am sure Betts will have no problem finding his fool....Will that fool own the Red Sox?....I do not believe so,something tells me the fool will have the last name Moreno, along with the pressure less serene comfort of SoCal....sorry I just cannot see him in the pressure cooker year after year, the kid is not wired that way.
  14. Thank God some can still think with a clear head, and they actually use their eyes to judge talent, damn internet is ruining the game
  15. I totally agree with your assessment of the 10 year contracts. The 2 contracts given away this winter are bad for the game, and the fans are footing the bill, and it is only going to get worse.I believe contracts should be performance driven, not by social media and the press. Sad to say but MLB and it's players are following the course of the NBA. Neither of those two clowns who fleeced 2 cities this past winter, will be a champion anytime soon.It is already clear to me that Betts through negotiating in the press is planning on holding a gun to management's head to extract the same type contract. If I was John Henry,I would trade him this upcoming winter to the N.L.
  16. this thread reminds me of any year from 1968 to 2003, some of you would have quit being fans,if you had to watch the team from from 1962 to 1966, talk about ugly, the ONLY bright spot on those teams was the best hitting pitcher ever, this side of the Babe...Earl Wilson
  17. very possible with the A's, the thing working against My City and the Rays is that they are a A.L. East team. The A's would be a great fit for the desert, their AAA team is here in a beautiful new stadium out in Summerlin, and they know where the Raiders will be next year. Not sure if their new stadium can be configured for baseball, but if it can, perhaps they could work something out with the city and Raiders. It has taken years but the city has finally overcome it's taboo image with the leagues,as the Golden Knights help break it,adding the Raiders will help more. I am all for getting a team in here just to see how visiting teams handle a 4 game weekend series. The visiting teams did somewhat better here the second season, but the first season was a riot,I swear Patrick Kane was shitfaced out on the ice,one of the games we went to. Takes time and discipline to get used to 24-7. We are going to have a pool at work where we pick the first Raider to be arrested and what offense is going to be the tie breaker.
  18. I think this will not go anywhere, simply because the players will not go for it,We here in Las Vegas will only get a team through expansion, I think Moonslav has the right idea with North Carolina, they support their other 3 teams,I think there is the best solution for this particular situation.
  19. clearly, very impressed with his improvement
  20. Devers reminds me of a Tony Gwynn with power that 19 only dreamed of
  21. totally agree with you,I hope I am able to watch his whole career
