I think in the last decade the Red Sox have only produced Lester, Buchholz, and Papelbon. They traded away Sanchez, but are there any former Red Sox pitching prospects that excelled elsewhere?
People need to step off the ledge. This team is 3 up with the rotation finally healthy. They are going to make the playoffs, and this lineup will not be the same as it will be in October.
This would make sense if the team wasn't playing better than it was last year at the same point. I'm also sure that the trade deadline will yield a bigger result than Fernando Abad.
Bogaerts was higher regarded and had better numbers than Devers when he was called up in 2013, and he still struggled making the adjustment. Most prospects do. It doesn't hurt to have an insurance policy.
