  1. Some of them will be easy to identify. They'll be the ones sporting the Ace bandages on their ankles from jumping off - and then back on - the JBJ bandwagon.
  2. I was in the majority (plurality?) with my prediction of 93. See Post #67 My saving grace is that I also said that I wasn't sure 93 would win the division. I was at least right about that! (I take my victories where I find them )
  3. I've only met a few people who made it up the ladder. I've told my Koufax story and the other guy I met was a guy named Larry Gowell. He played AAA ball for a few years and for a short time with the Yankees. He became, as he put it, part of the the Catfish Hunter trade. He was a throw-in who never went anyplace. LOL His biggest distinction is that he's the last pitcher to get a hit in the regular season before the designated hitter rule took effect - and it was the only hit he ever got. Anyway... I digress... the thing he and Koufax had in common is that they both had huge hands. I don't know if that's a characteristic that only pitchers have or if it extends to most MLB players. But that's my experience FWIW.
  4. Really? Because I stopped posting last night in the middle innings because it was getting too negative/brutal for my liking.
  5. Very right. Butler has never been anything more than a AAAA player, one of the players who holds a position in Pawtucket so the Sox can field a farm team there letting guys like Mookie, Devers, etc. mature. He's a career Minor Leaguer for nine years having come up through the Sox organization as far as he's going to go. In fact, the Sox declined offering him any contract last year and when nobody else offered one either he asked the Sox if he could come back - and they gave him a contract. He appears to have no delusions about his future. He seems to be happy just to be playing baseball. The only reason he's playing is because both our #1 and #3 are hurt and #2 played the first game. Sometimes a manager has to go with who's on his roster.
  6. Thorne comes from my neck of the woods and he was terrible when he was here. How many rich and/or famous people has he mentioned that he knows tonight?
  7. Isn't Chris Davis the guy who got suspended for PED's a few years back and then claimed that what caused the positive test was one of the side effects of Ritalin (or something like that) that had been prescribed by his doctor?
  8. I think it's fair to question Butler. Yesterday he was catching and the Sox pitchers gave up 12 runs. Tonight everyone who's pitched has struggled to some degree and on both days he and the pitcher have times when they're not on the same page. It can be said that he's 0-2.
  9. Ya. Sooner or later. Be patient.
  10. They're not challenging that??
  11. I have never understood why they don't just resume these games from the point of suspension.
  12. That's the best news I've heard all week.
  13. It looks like they might get the first game in. If you can believe Weather.com it's isolated thunderstorms starting @ 3:00 and it gets worse after that until after midnight. High heat and high humidity usually leads to those isolated T-storms but they're unpredictable. And no, I'm not a weatherman and I don't play one on television. That's just my observation after having seen 65+ summers.
  14. Or at least half a rainy day.
  15. That was my thought too. O'B busted Lyons' chops a bit and Lyons went all psycho on him.
  16. NESN doesn't trust Gomes in the booth. He puts everyone in the truck to sleep and TC & Co. are afraid of what might happen.
  17. It seems to me that Lyons throws a lot of barbs toward O'B and O'B tries to take the high road and ignore it but instead becomes sarcastic.
  18. Does anyone other than me get the idea that O'B & Lyons aren't exactly great friends?
  19. Kelley is up. Is Kimbrel available?
  20. That's not the worst idea I've heard. That would only leave Catcher as the position he hasn't played.
  21. You take the 7th & 8th. I'll get the 9th.
  22. I'm now wondering if 15 will be enough!
  23. No doubt. Ya gotta love it!
  24. It may have been a lot to expect two hits from Butler in one inning.
