I'm hoping he's learned more to pitch rather than just throw, which is what I always felt he was doing when setting up Paps. He wasn't very accurate then. His effectiveness came pretty much from his velocity alone. His secondary slider was effective, but he didn't control it well. ONe thing converting to starter last year did that was positive was that it made him practice his secondary pitches more. The increased work took its toll on his arm power, but he may be a more effective pitcher in the long run.

Inflammation persisting. Could be worse, but he's expected to miss several weeks of the season, acc to Peter Abraham. Overbay probably sticks at 1B and Napoli DHs to start the year.

I guess Farrell makes a world of difference for Bard.

Now Franklin Morales is out with a back issue, and no anticipated return date. Sounds like he'll be 60-day DL'd, lost as a spot starter, and assures that Aceves stays with the team and likely becomes the long man/spot starter. I was really hoping we'd find a way to deal Ace.

It's Britton's first offense and no one was hurt, so he'll be OK as long as he grows the hell up from the experience.

This is not a category league like talksox is running, but I'm offering it as an alternative second league. On the Sox fan site - Over the Monster - they have 6 full leagues going, so when I started this one over there it was pretty saturated already. As a result, we still have 7 openings for this free, head-to-head, 16-team league. 5 keepers from year-to-year.
