Middlebrooks had a reputation as an above average-good defender in the minor leagues. I wouldn't read too much in to a small sample size.

Why would the Sox move Middlebrooks to first base when they have half a dozen backup first basemen? That would just create a need for someone who can play third.

Marrero drew 34 walks in 64 games last year. The year before that he walked more times than he struck out in college and he doesn't have a lick of patience? Someone obviously doesn't know what they're talking about. That said, there's no reason to move Bogaerts. He's much more valuable right where he is and there's no guarantee second tier prospects like Marrero will ever be major leaguers.

If we're going to fault players who didn't get along with Valentine, wouldn't we have to release half the team? New manager, new leash. It's only natural that he'd test the boundaries.

Abraham's known to lose his sense of humor pretty quickly. He engages in flame wars with fans on twitter on a pretty regular basis.

If this doesn't turn out to be serious there's a good chance something else will. Since Hughes was drafted in 2004, how many years has he not had some kind of a significant injury? Two? This is at least the third time he's had issues with his back.
