I would much rather prefer the Red Sox trade Ellsbury rather than let him walk in free agency due to the fact that Boras is his agent and knowing him due to past and current clients (ie. JD Drew, Strasburg) he will ask for the moon and stars and will never suggest that his client sign a contract extension in the middle of the year. Boras always waits until the offseason to deal with contract matters. With that out of the way, the media has always linked Ellsbury's name as a trading chip for Seattle's Felix Hernandez, whom is off the market according to a source with the Mariners organization. The Red Sox will not retain Ellsbury and they should trade him. What I am interested in finding out is how the rest of the league values him and what he could bring back to the Sox.
