  1. Just hockey, but not anything else.
  2. The Red Sox aren't making Drew a $8 million a year bench player. They sign Drew if they have no faith in Bogaerts ability to play SS.
  3. The only person who looks down at anyone is you, seeing as your posts are littered with one-lined cheap shots. I thought it was time that someone called you out. Your post was factually wrong, so I wondered if it was a poor attempt at a joke. How do you figure drug addict? Is telling people to stop taking them a characteristic of one? Also, isn't calling someone else a drug addict a characteristic of someone who looks down at other people? Again, another fail by the LVP.
  4. The 14-year-old runs to MVP's defense, and also completely fails to understand the point. Not surprised to see you two as allies here.
  5. Wow, another fail by LVP78. If you don't know what I was trying to say, then you are both unamusing and unintelligent, but we already kind of knew that.
  6. The results were the Red Sox won the World Series, even with Hanrahan. There's no way the results could have been better. Sounds like you tried to land a punch line, and failed miserably in the process.
  7. This was your punch line?
  8. My guess would be a cancer of the mouth. He was a big smokeless tobacco user, and has history. http://articles.philly.com/1998-03-18/sports/25743427_1_smokeless-tobacco-curt-schilling-white-lesion That sucks. I'm hoping they caught whatever it was early. I think I'm done with the smokes after this last pack.
  9. Tell us your plan about playing time. Tell us what you are going to offer Stephen Drew?
  10. I'm not disagreeing that depth is a good thing to have, but how much do you plan on spending on a bench?
  11. I'm guessing because the QO was worth more than the two year contract he was offered. He'd be probably play more than a typical utility infielder, but how much can you really offer to someone that might top out at 350 PA's? 2/10?
  12. Forgot about Granderson.
  13. Mets might value the pick more than Drew. They would also have to give up some of their draft pool money.
  14. http://metsblog.com/mets-rumors/stephen-drew/stephen-drew-rumors-red-sox-make-a-two-year-offer/
  15. To be the utility infielder.
  16. Why do you want to trade for a reliever who retired in 2009?
  17. The Astros are in poor shape. The Yankees are an above-average team in the AL East. They are better at every position except 2B, and CL. They have a very strong starting rotation, especially the front four. Even Phelps isn't a horrible 5th starter. They only problems I have with Jacksonian's prediction is that he doesn't mention injury risk, age, or defense. There's also wild optimism about some players. Worst of all, he keeps touting the fact that they won 86 games, despite the fact that they actually won 85 games. He also leaves out the -21 RD, which makes those 85 wins look extremely lucky. Finally, the logic behind minimizing the Cano loss is annoying. Actually, that's the worst part. He does a positional comparison from 2013 to 2014, and weighs them all equally. It's hard to explain, but I'll try: 2013 C vs 2014 C - Edge 2014 2013 1B vs 2014 1B - Edge 2014 2013 2B vs 2014 2B - Edge 2013 2013 SS vs 2014 SS - Edge 2014 2013 3B vs 2014 3B - Edge 2014 2013 LF vs 2014 LF - Edge 2014 2013 CF vs 2014 CF - Edge 2014 2013 RF vs 2014 RF - Edge 2014 2013 DH vs 2014 DH - Edge 2014 It seems like he's fixated on the 8:1, and thinks that the improvement is to that magnitude. I'm surprised he isn't reaching the conclusion that the Yankees are an 100 win team. For the record, I have them between 80-89 wins.
  18. I like their rotation, but I wouldn't bet on them making it through the whole season. Not just the Yankees, but any pitching staff. I expect a Sabathia rebound, but not at his peak levels. You can't seriously call Soriano and Ichiro quality depth. Ichiro was awful last year, and Soriano is a 38 year old DH, with no OBP skills. In the chance he has to play LF, he's a big step down from Gardner. Also, who would take the DH AB's since Soriano would be pushed into LF? The Yankees had a negative RD last year. They weren't a legitimate 85 win team. They played more like a sub .500 team. They upgraded in CF, and C, but they took a massive step back at 2B. Losing Cano negates a lot of the value they brought in with McCann and Ellsbury. I also think you're ignoring the defensive liabilities that Jeter and Beltran are, and are too optimistic in projecting rebound years from players coming off injury. Age is never mentioned in your post. Jeter is 40, Beltran is 36, Teixeira will be 34, and Soriano is 38. The rest of that team isn't exactly young either. Injuries and performance decline is a huge risk for this team, and they don't have the depth to sustain multiple injuries.
  19. The only way the Yankees win 90 games is if they avoid a major injury, or outperform their RD again. The probability of avoiding an injury is probably close to 0%. I guess they could lose Jeter, Johnson, or Roberts, but even at those positions the depth is pretty bad.
  20. I guess this depends on whether you think the remaining free agents will change the playoff race. Cruz is barely above replacement, and he's probably going to Seattle. I think they'll finish 4th, so he won't impact their chances. I have no idea where Drew is going to land, but I don't think he's going to be a difference maker in any of the races. Jimenez and Santana have been projected to land with Toronto, Cleveland, or the Angels. Don't think they'd push any of those teams above my wild card winners. The only thing that might change my mind would be the Yankees signing one of the Jimenez/Santana, and Drew to play 2B. I'd have to think about it, but I still lean the Rays as the better team. That might make them better than Oakland, but I'd have to look more into it.

  22. I'd make him go year to year. How many teams are going to be offering him a long-term contract? He can't play the field, and he's old.
  23. Explain how this will work, and will satisfy Drew to get him to sign for $5 million less than the QO. He's not going to sign with the Red Sox to be in a three man rotation between SS and 3B.
  24. The Red Sox are not going over the luxury tax for Stephen Drew.
  25. lol mental illness. That's a convenient excuse.
