  1. Offense prospects looking pretty tasty now with Moncada, Betts, Swihart, Xander .. I really like what management is doing.
  2. How great does Pedroia's deal look now?! Cano leaving the Yankees is brilliant news for us, at least short term. As others pointed out, they have avoided overpaying in the latter years of his deal, but they'll miss his production in these next few coming years.
  3. Dodgers just agreed to pay Brian Wilson 1yr/$10m+, so there's that...
  4. Skanks fans are panicking because they are sure this means they're letting Cano go. General sentiment on their board is verrrry negative.
  5. Victorino and, in particular, Napoli have been excellent early in their Sox careers. Kinda wish we'd just given Nap 3-years now though!
  6. What do we all think of Nap? He started a bit slowly, but he seems to have figured out his swing and he's looking like a RBI machine at the clean-up spot with the 6th most RBI in baseball (16) and the equal most doubles in baseball (7). His defense has been fine as well.
  7. Technically no. Aces don't show up one season, vanish for two seasons, then show up again. That said, he's pitching like an ace right now. To be honest, true 'aces' are established long-term dominant pitchers. He's absolutely dealing right now though. Love it.
  8. Not even kidding: I benched Middlebrooks for this game. I thought he might struggle with the knuckleball. Wish I was joking.
  9. Some solid batting avgs thru the Sox order in ST. How damn impressive has WMB been?! 3 hits today and a .362 avg for spring.
  10. Probably deserve to! 3 hits today for Iggy and a .273 AVG for Spring Training = much better offensive output than any of us expected. 3-run HR for Bradley today and a sac fly to boot. Opening day lineup starting to look like: Ellsbury Victorino Pedroia Napoli Middlebrooks Gomes Bradley Ross (seems likely he'll catch for Lester) Iglesias
  11. Thanks mate. Interesting to hear that about Webster. My friend tells me Jackie Bradley Jr. has been impressing as well. Would be good to see a few of these young guys involved.
  12. Guys, there's minimal Spring Training coverage in New Zealand. Can I just ask a few short questions, don't feel like you have to elaborate in too much detail: (1) Who are three of the pitching staff that have impressed the most so far? (2) How are we looking on the injury front? - To that point, are we going to put out a near-full strength opening day lineup? (3) How are our AL East rivals looking so far, in very general terms? Cheers.
  13. Don't have time to fully elaborate, but the 2013 Red Sox are gonna surprise some people. Predictions: Lester will bounce back and look like an ace Lackey will pitch an ERA between 3 and 4 Nap will hit 30 bombs Ells will put up numbers similar to 2011 The Sox will get a wild card spot into the post-season
  14. Been away for ages. Can anyone do me a favour and give me the general consensus on our Rotation for the season? 1. Lester 2. Clay 3. Demps 4. Felix?? 5. Lackey? Morales? Bard? (is Bard likely to return to the BP?)
  15. Some of you may get your wish...
  16. Will LaRoche put up as strong numbers offensively as Napoli at Fenway though? Seems that Fenway is much better suited to Nap's righty power game
  17. Uehara qualifies as a good bullpen arm too.
  18. Personally I can't see how Doubront would be going back. That'd be 1 step forward 2 steps back. What do the Pirates desperately need?
  19. Don't worry all, my daily tweet of "SIGN DA TING, NAP!" will get it done. You're all welcome.
  20. What's Soriano gonna cost?
  21. (1) One of the Angels and Dodgers will miss the playoffs altogether, the other will scrape in via Wild Card and be swiftly eliminated. (2) Ryan Dempster will surprise everyone and post a 3.20 ERA (3) Ells will stay healthy and return to his 2011 MVP-level form (4) CC Sabathia will have a poor season (5) Yankees finish no higher than 3rd in AL East
  22. Agreed, and that's assuming we don't trade Salty, which personally I think we will. In fact, it looks a certainty. A Ross/Napoli/Lavarnway platoon is definitely sufficient.
