  1. Here's our answer...it is the one I expected....Aceves to Bailey. If Aceves floats one right down main street I hope V flings a bat at him from the dugout
  2. No Salty don't look at your bat....there isn't a hole right in the meat part of it....the meat part was in one place while the ball was in another place.
  3. I think Pedey was going on his own there....although I like the play Pedey gets nailed on pitch outs more than he should. I wonder if he is tipping it somehow. Uncanny how many times they pitch out on Pedey and nail him
  4. Well in an odd sort of way Kalish may have done us a favor...we cleared Albert with Buch still on the mound....now put Kalish on the first plane back PLEASE
  5. I love seeing our infield outfield the opponents infield.
  6. And that botched play in right brings Albert to the plate....just perfect
  7. Oh my God Kalish...talk about a rookie/minor league mistake....man please send him back to PawLand. I have seen enough blown games and extra outs given to opponents for ten seasons...send him back!
  8. Damn....this game is not ending 5-4 so the Sox will need more runs...especially with the pen about to make an appearance. Albert has got his napkin tucked under his chin waiting to feast on those guys.
  9. C'mon Pods...that was a good pitch to hit....if Pods had gotten a decent hit on that Ciriaco was home
  10. Well Buch has not wanted to go back to the breaking ball as much as he was really on that pitch early in the game...not that he threw it enough for strikes but he threw the hell out of it.
  11. Buch really struggling this inning...can't find the plate with anything that is not middle and up
  12. Were are those "Orioles will fade" posters when you want um'? Won four straight...putting heat to the Yanks feet.
  13. Oh really....How did he like Becketts, 7 hit, 3 walk, 1 HR effort for 5 2/3 innings last night. Those will get old pretty quick I imagine.
  14. I may eat my words before this evening is over but even while being kinda' toothless, we at least look like we are in these kinds of games with this kind of a lineup and roster. I don't care how many stars, superstars or supposed to be stars we have had in this lineup, with Aviles, Agons, Crawford, Youk at third in the lineup with Salty behind the plate, we don't even look like we are in these games. Agons is a great defensive 1st baseman....that and a quarter will get you a cup of coffee. There is just not that much advantage to a great defensive 1st baseman. I am not sure Ross can or even should play RF in Fenway either. You don't have to make a lotta' errors in games to look terrible defensively. If you are always stumbling around the baseball, you will likely not get many errors but your defense will still be swiss cheese. This sort of lineup is more patient at the plate, more conscience of situational hitting and more solid defensively, three things we have not been at all this year.
  15. I am not even sure this late season stint is the right thing to do with Kalish....I mean whether it is the shoulder or not, he looks God awful.
  16. I think Trout did trap Ciriaco's shot to CF. While I base that on what I could see on replay, have you ever seen an outfielder look more sheepish showing the glove and ball to the ump?
  17. That Kalish at bat was an absolute sin. Ya' got weaver on the ropes, no outs bases loaded with a shot at really putting him in a hole and ya' don't even look like a major league hitter. Waved at the first pitch which was never going to be middle middle (only reason to swing at a first pitch) and might have even been ball 1 and promptly ground into a DP. Hell I could have done that.
  18. Geez Kalish...looked terrible in that at bat. Chased the first one and grounded into a DP.
  19. I don't wonder if Kalish woes are not tied to the shoulder. However the way he has played this year....if that is the case he has likely not done himself any favors.
  20. Dodger's getting stomped in Colorado again tonight. This might turn out to be one of the funnier stories of the season. Do ex Red Sox travel around with a black cloud when they are in a group. Agons 0-2 and a walk tonight. Punto getting some playing time tonight as well.
  21. Yea I agree with that 700. I am not sure what the Sox were seeing in Kalish. I have not seen it yet. I guess that last Ciriaco at bat was what people were telling us we would see eventually. Chasing pitches is one thing. Chasing pitching that never even start looking like they had a chance to be a strike is something else again. Strike 3 never once looked like it had a chance to be a strike from the moment it left the hand to the moment Ciriaco's bat went by it by about 6".
  22. Kalish bat just looks slow to me. Maybe why he looked so bad on strike 3. Seems to have to start the bat real early which does not give you much time to decide swing or no swing.
  23. Buch does not look at all comfortable tonight. Struggling with his arm angle/release point.
  24. Would love to put film of Iggy making that routine SS play to end the inning side by side with film of Aviles making the exact same play so that people could vividly see the difference between a guy that makes even routine SS plays look challenging and one that makes even a routine play look like poetry in motion. The reason Aviles costs us so many DP's is because it takes him forever to get to the ball, secure it and make the throw, in part because he knows what he is not and he takes extra time securing the ball. Iggy gets to the ball exactly in step, secures it and is throwing in one smooth motion.
  25. Kalish being interviewed before tonight's game talked about the shoulder being sore for the most part the entire season after having had shoulder surgery. While I was not in anything like the situation these guys are in my shoulder was never really the same after I injured it long long ago. Kalish also commented that players that have had the same injury have sort of clued him in that he might suffer some soreness even next season....shoulder is a big joint. In part this is why I have wondered what Agons shoulder is really like at this stage of the game.
