  1. Sanders really left some pitches that should have been hit out there. The Spanks like many of the hitters in all of the division series have gone nuts trying to leave the building instead of using their heads and taking balls on the outer 3rd to the opposite field. Hitters are trying to pull even with 2 strikes and they end up looking hopeless. The head of the bat looks like it is about a foot away from the ball as they swat away. Jeter and Ichiro are about the only guys that have not gone down that road on the Yanks.
  2. The real shame of it for Oakland is that if they did not have to face Verlander twice in five games, they probably win this series and I think they would cream either the O's or the Yanks just as well as the Tigers would and might even dominate either the O's or the Yanks even more than the Tigers would. I don't see how the Yanks would win one game in Oakland for example. Yet I am sure the A's could steal a game if not more in NY. The two national league games today were the best games of all the divisional series games so far. These two games today were very well played and featured great plays that were memorable instead of memorable blunder after blunder. Easily the best two games of the division series so far.....the Giants/Reds game featured some terrific defense...something we have seen little of in these division games and the Nats/Cards game had just about everything...great clutch hitting, unbelievable pitching especially by Nats in relief and a walk off HR by Wirth in the bottom of the 9th to end it. Finally we had terrific games memorable for great play as opposed to gaffs.
  3. No surprise here....A's really did not have a way to beat Verlander unless the restaurant last night gave him food poisoning. Now the Spanks have to use CC tomorrow against the O's which is only fitting. Neither the O's nor Yanks deserve some whacky rotation mis-alignment thing as a means of screwing with Detroit. For obvious reasons I would prefer the O's to move on as they are at least not as pathetic as the Spanks. Have to really credit Cashman for two things.....having rescued the Spanks pitching cause they lived on that and the support signings he has made. The support signings would not be so significant if the Spanks lineup were not so pathetic though. Can't blame Cashman for ARoid though. He tried to be done with ARoid. Jeter's is a manageable contract. He can be rid of GrandyK and SwishSwish the ballerina this year. I suspect the biggest mistakes he could make would be to sign those two pukes.
  4. Davis is totally screwed at this point...as feeble as the Yanks have been, Davis looks like he is having a nervous breakdown. He cannot get his swings over with fast enough so he can scurry back to the dugout....something we saw a few Red Sox do on occasion this year. That final swing was totally pathetic as he just threw the head of the bat out there hoping something would get in its way. Will be interesting to see how he comes out tomorrow as I doubt one night will be long enough for him to come around....Jones has been equally useless.....the only difference being that while Davis looks like he is headed for a straight jacket, the only way you can tell Jones still has a pulse is when he blows a bubble. CC will likely make mince meat out of them tomorrow and the Yanks will somehow squeeze out a constipated run. Damage is already done though....only shot they had was to set their rotation and have Detroit waste Verlander.
  5. This has been like watching two field mice fighting an epic battle....for the rights to go face off against the house cat.
  6. Davis has just gone ridiculous...looks like Agons looked for that stretch early this year....EXACTLY! I think Davis has swung at 8 straight pitches regardless of location in the last three at bats
  7. Mother of God....an actual run
  8. Good thing for the O's that Jeter is up with two outs cause the only other way the Yanks can score besides the short porch HR is a Jeter hit Ichiro gives himself up to get him over and somebody somehow gets him in. Two outs at least prevents that.
  9. Must not be anybody left for Buck...I would not trust Strop here at all....would not be surprised to see this the LF short porch HR inning.
  10. Can't believe Ford never adjusted to where they were pitching him. Kept pounding him outside in exactly the same spot and Ford never got the bat on plain with the ball. Also totally shocked by efforts to pull balls on the outer third when it would be so easy to just dump the ball into right field. Ford at least tried to go with the pitch but so many of these guys have just hacked and hacked to pull even with balls on the outer third...sillier still since LF is not as short a shot in the Stadium as RF.
  11. Strop was desperately trying to give Swisher a chance to end the game right there and Swisher almost got it done.
  12. This game will end the way most of us I am sure expect it to end.....a short porch LF Yankee HR will mercifully end this mess. Davis and Jones both better not even fly back to Baltimore....just go home....hopefully Baltimore is not home for either one of them.
  13. Reds-Giants? Another terrible series. Maybe one game not hallmarked by endless mental errors and poor play. I have said repeatedly that this is the worst division series play in general across the division series that I have seen in any year by a wide margin. Have said it in this thread and in the general 2012 post season thread. However this O's Yanks series is the worst of the worst and that again by a wide margin.
  14. Amazing....game on the line and once again...nobody comes out to make sure Wieters and Oday are on the same page against the hottest hitter the Yanks have...maybe even the only hitter they have that can hurt the O's....another instance where Joe Torre's pitching coach would have been out there faster than Ichiro going down the line.
  15. And Ford trips over his shoelaces. I think it is actually pretty funny that anybody things this is how post season baseball should be played.
  16. This series represents the worst division series baseball I have seen in my entire lifetime. Unfortunately for me....that represents a lotta' baseball. These two teams have been utterly feeble in every way. Both of these starting pitchers should have been knocked into the showers about the 3rd inning at best and there has been all of three plays in four games worth mentioning compared to mistake after mistake after mental error and in some cases complete indifference for that matter. The play in left tonight by McClouth and the two HR's by Ibanez. The rest of the time you can call out a mental error of some sort or a physical error about every half inning. And Swisher comes through again....NOTTTTT...need I say more. And Yankees boot the ball and SS and it just goes on and on and on...what a joke of a series.
  17. I have never seen such poor division series play in general and have never seen such a pathetic single series as the O's/Yanks series. How much badness can they fit into one short series?
  18. Verlander with two K's in the first inning....Cespedas got a hit but I think they will be rare as hen's teeth tonight Have to admit though that Jeter has completely changed his hitting style over the years to something that resembles Wade Boggs in his later years only even more effective I think. Very hard thing to do cause it still takes ridiculous bat control and a level of experience that is hard to come by. Most would be home on their couches instead of batting lead off for the Spanks.
  19. Without Matchbox Stadium, the Yanks would have been the same pop the rest of the AL East was this year..in fact they are the same pop with somewhat better pitching.
  20. We ride Jeter to much over the so called Bitch hit....he is taking pitches the way they are pitched and simply putting them where they ain't. You can't call it a Bitch hit when he does it time and time again and does it based on what the pitcher is throwing and what the Yanks might need at that time in the game. Gotta' hand it to him...he has found a way to extend his career in way that may be hard to stop until his eyes finally get to old to see the damn thing!
  21. May not matter who Detroit puts out there in game 1 if it is the Yanks. If they could not hit Saunders pitching the way he way pitching tonight, I am not sure they could hit anybody.....truly anybody! Hate to say it but I think these two teams ARE representative of what the AL East has become.
  22. Pathetic......A's Tigers can't start soon enough
  23. A passed ball/WP to score Jeter would be in keeping with the spirit of this series.
  24. Geez finally....a very good play by an Oriole...maybe that will energize them in their half....I don't know if anything can energize them...have been sleepwalking through most of these games.
  25. And Grandpoopoo with his millionth K
