  1. This is actually the one starting pitcher I really wanted to see brought here. Knew it was a pipe dream especially with the Guardians trying to make improvements aimed at making a run. Maybe we get a real shot later this year if the Sox are still in it and the Guardians are out of it. I wanted Masterson more that Josh Johnson as I thought he would be a great fit back here. Now that I have put the hex on him hopefully he will do his part to fail tonight.
  2. Wilson has either two or three options remaining.
  3. Hitters are not just digging in, they are diving over the plate. Besides Quintin did not even get hit in the head while diving over the plate. He is a card carrying *******. I don't think I would change anything at this point. Although I would maybe not take it for granted that my catcher knows he is supposed to intercept the idiot on the way to the mound. I would also probably remind my timid as the day is long 1st baseman Agons that he is supposed to do more than show up ten minutes after everything is over and scratch around the mound for a bit.
  4. Wilson may stay longer. He has not done anything to warrant hitting the reject button and there may well turn out to be a spot for him before he does anything that gets him sent packing.
  5. I have tried to be selective in my criticism of the home plate umps but UN has been closer to right than I have been.....they have been pretty terrible as a group. The good ball and strike umps are so rare now that they stand out like sore thumbs. The other umps probably hate them. It might be interesting to see if they get better once the % of night games goes up. Day games can be tough on hitters and tough on home plate umps for the same reason.
  6. Watch...hip injury..can only happen to us
  7. Ace's 2011 set a standard for relief pitchers than Ace himself has not been able to approach again. I don't think he ever will. I think Fingers had a year like that before he became a closer and I think Eck had one similar as well. That 2011 set an impossible standard. Both Ace and we would probably be happy if he could give us half of that year again...without the drama and without the threat of getting your team into a bench brawl with half of them landing in the hospital.
  8. I don't think Mortensen is as versatile as Ace was at his best but he is probably as good a long reliever as Ace was at his best. Mortensen has an outing now and again where it takes him about three batters to get settled in and those three batters can sometimes be nightmarish.
  9. I am thinking Gomes will no longer be the platoon LFer but will end up being something between a platoon LFer and an emergency LFer. He is scary out there...makes C. Ross look like GG material.
  10. IMO Nava has been the best LFer on this team and was at the start of the season. Vic might be a better LF but we will not know since he has to play RF. Had contended as much before opening day. Does not mean that Nava is the end all be all of LFer's but he is the best LFer on this team.
  11. Usually opposing pitchers fight to landscape the mound. One guy comes out..landscapes to his liking...next guy comes out and landscapes it to his liking. They have all been falling off awkwardly after releasing the ball at times. Could be slick out there with the rain. Seems odd when none of them can get comfortable.
  12. Remy pumping Nava's tires...preparing us for the JBJ swan song.
  13. Felix looking to lose his job since ST and may just do it at this rate.
  14. Drama queen Swisher. If he had swung at that thing he probably would have been rounding the bases instead of doing his drama act at home. I don't think I have ever seen anything like this before. Up 7-2 but on 101 pitches with two out in the 5th inning!
  15. Jeez Felix, 89 pitches and not through five yet.
  16. Jeez, Ortiz does not play one day in Pawtucket because of a sinus infection and then misses the next game cause of soreness in his heels? This heel thing is starting to look like it is going to cost him more time than the Achilles unless the Achilles finally just blows on him. Just cannot seem to get rid of the heel thing.
  17. Felix does need to find a few more bats with such a big lead. Any walks are not that great with such a big lead and they are not helping his pitch count. He may not be able to get past six just based on pitch count. That would be sort of a travesty with such a big lead.
  18. Felix sticking to the script except for a walk here and there.
  19. Almost surprised they don't have Vic batting first and Ells second. Vic never tries to do too much with the pitch. Just leaves the head of the bat in the hitting zone as long as he can and doinks the ball into the outfield.
  20. 5 walks in one inning by Jimenez.....How'd that taste Tito?
  21. Swisher, bound and determined to piss me off wherever he goes.
  22. Felix has thrown a couple curve balls so far this game. Has not gotten them over though. All three pitchers so far having trouble with the mound...falling awkwardly after they release the ball. Might be something odd about that mound.
  23. That was a horrible piece of hitting. I would want the guy tarred and feathered if he was a Red Sox. Guardians needed base runners. If he walked and the next guy went yard they would have at least made it a ballgame again....just like that. 11k's and 1 BB on the season. Should have Tito scratching at his bald head.
  24. Apparently this guy refuses to take a walk
