  1. Torn between wanting to see Masterson left out there to suffer more and having some sympathy for him. His last inning was his best and that was nothing to write home about.
  2. Aceves location this inning is looking like Masterson's has all night
  3. That had to hurt
  4. Tito is an OK manager but I think we have always considered his handling of pitchers as a weak area for him. Sox pitchers were fine with Farrell around but once Farrell was gone, Tito had no answers and neither did anybody else. Have to wonder if Masterson is a guy that would have benefitted from being under Farrell and Nieves wing. He has been for the most part helpless out there and it does not seem like he is getting much help.
  5. WMB is a very young hitter but he is getting himself into a JBJ sort of a rut.
  6. Nice to be pitching with a lead. Ace is just keeping them in the big part of the ballpark.
  7. Boy that is a lotta' opportunity gone to waste. I don't even want to think about what the score should be at this point. Funny thing is that Masterson is pitching no better with RISP than he is with nobody on. We just are not doing anything with it.
  8. Eighty pitches and four innings....at least 60 of them have been up and hittable.....about 30 of them have been up and in the middle of the plate.
  9. Masterson still helpless out there
  10. In his young career to date, WMB has always been vulnerable to sliders low and outside. When the pitch is up in the outer half he would do himself a world of good just going with that pitch. The low slider on the outer third might be a riddle that takes him longer to solve.
  11. Masterson lucked through that whole inning...by rights he should have been bombed again.
  12. WMB did him a favor there.
  13. Masterson just cannot keep the ball down. Almost nothing is down.
  14. Giambi.....light a candle for Tito.
  15. Would love to see Farrell switch Vic for Ells in the lineup. We would look much like the Jeter/Itch set up that really carried the Yanks at one point, only about 50 years younger.
  16. Indian's fans complaining about the ball 3 call...they should thank their stars Napoli did not swing at that. Even off the plate, Napoli could have driven that over the wall.
  17. Masterson's location is pitiful so far.
  18. While nobody on this team just goes with the pitch as much as Vic does there has been much more of that from most of the Sox players in 15 games than there was all last season.
  19. My God, now we are going to have to hear justifications for the phantom tag at home plate? Did not want to hear that Remy.
  20. Well that was fast. Starting pitchers tend to be vulnerable in the 1st. Our 1st inning issues last year were in part our inability to do anything with the opposing pitcher in the 1st while the opposition was eating our starter alive in the 1st. Our guys really did struggle in the 1st but we sure did not help ourselves offensively in 1st innings either, especially later in the year before and after the "trade".
  21. What is interesting is that Napoli's numbers against Masterson are really very good. Maybe Farrell just thinks Napoli needs a dsy.
  22. Carp should be long gone. I have no idea why they even held onto him when they let Overbay go. I think they had gotten Carp just a few days before they let go of Overbay ....I think???? Carp can play OF and 1st but don't we have that sort of covered at this point?
  23. The days you really love Mortensen are the days when he comes into the game early and sticks up through the 5th or 6th inning. He can do that and does do that more often successfully than not. You just love the guy when he does cause your starter has already failed and you could be looking at a game where you end up eating through everybody just to get to your 7th or 8th inning guy. Guardians had two relievers carry them to the 7th or 8th last night which is just that kind of effort. I am just Tito is grateful as the Guardians had already lost last night's game to boot.
  24. Jose Faliciano! What ...this isn't a list of blind musicians???? Never mind.:D
  25. I don't think Farrell wants to use JBJ cause he is so messed up right now. Farrell had already commented that he had seen disturbing signs suggesting that JBJ's confidence was shaken. He used JBJ in LF late in last night's game. That made sense as he is very athletic and Farrell was trying to cut down extra base hits in Progressive's big LF. However in truth he has made more mistakes in LF than he has made plays. I could see bringing him into last night's game late to cut down the chance of extra base hits but I think Farrell values JBJ's future more than a buzz for the fans. The final K of JBJ's last start, he was so preoccupied that he apparently did not know he had just struck out and lingered at the plate. Remy even commented on it.
