  1. Benni is back to that long, useless swing again. That is his "hero" swing. His "I am going to hit it over the RF wall in Fenway Park" swing. Good luck with that Benni. He is not a big time HR power threat...PERIOD. JBJ is also back to a swing that he would do as well using if he just closed his eyes and hoped he ran into something. Neither are following the path that lead to their second half success which was going to the opposite field. Besides the starting pitching in ALDS series what distinguished the Red Sox from the hopeless post season Yankees? What distinguished the two teams was the Sox ability to manufacture runs, to have productive AB's while the Yankees would do nothing but try to bang the ball over the fence. Had Benni been looking oppo as he should have in his AB against Verlander, he would have either hit the ball outside to LF or fouled it off instead of taking it. If you look inside to pull the ball, you are never even going to foul a pitch like that off. JBJ for his part is just hopeless again and if he keeps this up he will remain hopeless. This team stank up the place from top to bottom in this game, an utter disaster of a game which is why I think Cora saved Kimbrel for tonight. With one inning to play, I don't think Cora believed in his team on this given night, down 1 run or 100 runs with 1 half inning left to bat.
  2. If its right down the middle then hit the damn ball in the air and get a run home at least. He failed ...the end...bad AB. Either take it and continue to push Verlander off the edge since he could not find the plate or hit it well enough to do something. There is no talking our way out of how bad an AB that was at that point in the game, particularly from the guy we depend on to get this team going.
  3. The only thing that got saved in last night's game is both closers who are as likely to blow up as not unfortunately. But neither pitched. I cannot believe how inconsequential Sale's performance was to the outcome. He was our highlight if you can believe that. Kimbrel probably should have pitched IF Cora thought his team could win last night's game. I don't think he did, down 1 run or 10 runs going into the 9th inning and he saved Kimbrel for tonight. This team was nowhere Saturday night...out to lunch...the whole bunch of them....out to lunch. They did not come out to the mound to check on Kelly for a physical ailment by the way. They came out to see if he could count to three and knew where he was. He lost it because Bregman stepped out late on him. Kelly thought he would buzz him inside for it, missed and hit him. How often have we seen Kelly miss inside either trying to hit a batter or trying to buzz a batter? Nice move cement head. Somehow that makes him a hero around these parts. Then he crosses up his catcher immediately after and costs himself a strike doing it. New nickname for Kelly....Wild Thing. If you are going to get that amped up over a batter stepping out late, I am stepping out late on you as often as I can. See how that works out for you donkey. The rest of the bullpen sucked ass as usual. That BP is not a contemporary championship pen. It is not even an imitation of one. The rest of them were a collection of errors (Nunez, journeyman 3rd baseman) and hissy fits (Benni and JD, even Cora) and bad AB's and incoherent play. Price needs to come out and put up a goose egg in the first inning. If they leave the field behind in the 1st inning they may never recover and the Astros will smell the blood in the water and are likely to just keep stuffing them farther and farther down a hole. Just give us a chance David. Can you handle that? The rest of them need to pull it together and remember who they are and where they are. This is Fenway Park, Boston in the ALCS. Its not dinner at one of your fav restaurants and you don't think the waiter is treating you with the proper deference due a Red Sox baseball player. NUT UP for God sake.
  4. If we play like this all the Astros will have to do is what they did tonight.....show up and throw their gloves out on the field and watch us fall apart. This is as tight and as screwed up a game as I have seen from this team in a long time. They played with their heads up their butts the whole night. In fact, given what we have to consider as physical limitations for Sale, he was the highlight of the night. He went out there and struggled, had nothing, absolutely nothing and made the most of it he possibly could. Cora rightfully would not let him face the top of the order one more time. Had to take him out all things considered. The rest of this team positively sucked ass. From Nunez's mistakes at 3rd, to Benni's little hissy fit to Kelly's hissy fit, to JD's little hissy fit to Mookies bombastically bad AB with the bases loaded, they sucked ass. They were a complete joke tonight. They played like they think the series started on Sunday, not Saturday. They better show up ready to play on Sunday or like I said, this will only get more embarrassing. And before I forget, Price better show up.
  5. The Yankees were never a threat to do anything. Too young...too inexperienced. Too many fans think HR's are the end all of baseball. That Yankee team could not manufacture a run if it had a Federal Government Contract to manufacture them and it had no starting pitching. Bunch of too young kids for everyday players and a bunch of old men in the rotation. Not a combination that was ever going anywhere this year.
  6. They have not self destructed tonight. We did.
  7. So ....where are the "our BP is fine" folks. Oh yea, its fine alright....it strikes fear in the hearts of outfield walls everywhere. Still one more AB tonight and a new day tomorrow. But if we play like this, we are going to end up the laughing stock of baseball with our big gaudy regular season numbers.
  8. My God we are embarrassing ourselves. What the f*** are we doing? Like I said before, we look like boys playing a game with men. They are just letting us self destruct right in front of them. Its like they are a seawall and we are just waves breaking against them....uselessly.
  9. Benni, for his part is back to trying to hit it to Mars with that big useless swing that is going nowhere. Needs to go back to going oppo.
  10. He actually looks like a choke waiting to happen. That is not a confident look he is wearing.
  11. Our LH hitters, especially Benni and JBJ have completely forgotten how they worked their way back into the season in the second half.
  12. Oh for God sake. More walks. As bad as Sale was for Sale, as it turns out he is not even close to the biggest factor in this game to this point. At least he gutted out a bad situation. I just don't know what that means for him going forward in this series or for next season. At least his next start (if he makes it) will be in Houston in warmer weather, indoors. The entire rest of the team has for the most part looked like boys playing against men.
  13. What did I tell ya. Nunez can make reaction plays to the throwing hand side...and he can come in on the ball when he has to. Without X on his glove side, this season would have looked like a keystone kops routine. Same for Devers only worse.
  14. Mookie needs to get his head screwed on straight. We are going nowhere with Mookie choking up plate appearances.
  15. Kelly needs medication or something. His horse s*** does not play in the post season. Nunez is just another story. He is not more than a journeyman 3rd baseman. Somehow we decided on a PR move at 3rd (panda) followed by a kid (Devers) and a journeyman (Nunez). I guess we think just anybody can play 3rd on a WS team.
  16. Not much of a pitch to Correa there. Don't know why he didn't try to get him to chase and just pitch to Maldenado if he walked Correa. Maldenado is not going to catch up to trips even if it is flat as Kelly's most often is.
  17. I am actually surprised nobody has picked up the "Wild Thing" movie theme for Kelly. It would be a perfect match.
  18. Good pitch for the K Joe.
  19. Kelly is not fine. He lost his composure over Bregman stepping out late and then crossed up Vaz on the pitch. Just can't lose your composure. interesting that he is pitching well, at least for him and as usual his whacked out head is getting in the way.
  20. Somewhere between Vaz's head and his feet. Kelly crossed him up and it cost him the strike.
  21. Geez we are pissing this game away. Kelly needs to get control of his emotions here.
  22. I am not at all sure Kelly was not trying to get back at Bregman. He stepped out late on Kelly and Kelly didn't like it. Probably was not trying to hit him but was likely trying to get back at him for stepping out late. Nice play at 3rd again. This is when you weaknesses really come to the fore.
  23. Oh for God sake Kelly...this is not the time for this garbage.
  24. Mookie's terrible AB in the middle of the inning probably cost us there. At least we got it back to even.
  25. Can't take that pitch with two strikes Bennie, even if you don't think its a strike, its too close to take. Plus Benni has been going oppo late in the season. Bad time not to be thinking oppo Benni.
