  1. The MLB studio crew has a much more rational take on the Mookie/Altuve call. Their take is that there is not a better shot of where Mookie and his glove and the fan were at the point of contact. There is as much evidence in the video that we have that Mookie was high in the air but at the wall, not over it that there is of Mookie being on the fan's side of the wall. If the fan is reaching even slightly across that invisible line that extends up from the wall itself, then its fan interference. The only video that would have been anything like definitive would be the shot along the wall that the Security Guard unfortunately blocked. West made the call he made immediately and Chelsea NY could not overturn it.
  2. Bailed out by Beni in LF. Best LFer in baseball bar none. Not the best OFer in baseball but without question best LFer. OF saved us tonight. Kimbrel...There was no reason to go to him for 6 outs.
  3. Up to 26 pitches....toast
  4. and there he is with that dropped arm angle again.
  5. If Kimbrel comes out for the 9th and I were the Astros I would just let Kimbrel throw himself right out of the game. He does not have 30 pitches in him. He has never had 30 pitches in him.
  6. Got to be the dumbest move of the series.....surely as bad as Osuna for 6 outs...like Cora thinks Kimbrel would do better than Osuna....In what world Alex?
  7. Oh God no Cora. This is such a mistake.
  8. Not to be greedy...but another run would be sorta' nice here. AJ is running out of arms down there.
  9. Brasier has about 20 pitches in him in high leverage. He was at 22. Really gave us all he had.
  10. Brasier right at his limit. Has to get this guy out. He has to come out now.
  11. If Darling doesn't shut up I am going to puke all over my TV.
  12. Nine outs seems like playing a triple header.
  13. Oh I wanted to see Mccullers here for this very reason.
  14. Isn't it about time for another passed ball?
  15. Probably the reason Cora used Erod trying to get the 1st out was to cut down the number of pitches for Brasier hoping to get 5 outs from Brasier. Still kinda' worked out not that we have Erod to thank for it.
  16. So if Brasier can get this next out without getting over 10 pitches he might come out for another inning....and there it is ....6 pitches. I would say its Brasier at least trying to go two innings. Could be rough though. He had 15-16 pitches last outing.
  17. I will be honest about it. I would take what Porcello gave us tonight over what Erod gave us in a heartbeat. Porcello had absolutely nothing...probably knew it walking in from the pen before the game started and just gutted out 4 innings. Erod was brought in to face one batter and basically just blew it off.
  18. Brought in for one hitter and walks him. Erod has proven to be oblivious to just about everything.
  19. They have not even broken out Pressly yet.
  20. The Astros hit so many balls in the air off Porcello that Holt and Devers have been compete non-factors in the field in this game. Could have put cardboard cutouts out there and it would not have mattered.
  21. And that is the classic Manager's problem. You can just about find your way to all but one inning all the time....unless you have a post season calibre pen.
  22. I actually have no frigging idea what Cora does from here. I would be as unsurprised to see Rick come in again for the 5th as anything else.
  23. That was a huge gamble. It was always a huge gamble brought on by the lack of a pen Cora had any confidence in. He could not even piece together an 8th inning for that game and he could not bring in Kimbrel. At least we did win that game. But to simply write that off as not having consequences later in the same series is simply putting our heads in the sand. Having no options for that 8th inning just can't be ignored. Paying for it tonight. Now with the Sale situation, Cora is being held by the nose and kicked in the ass as if that situation was not always brewing in the background.
  24. Lesson #1 Alex....you can relegate starters to the pen. But you can't relegate the starters you are going to start in the series to the pen. Its gonna' get ya' sooner or later. You may be able to pull it off in a 5 game series, but not 7. A longer term problem is what to do with Sale. Cora did everything he possibly could to get Sale to the post season in shape to pitch and he STILL was not in shape to pitch in October.
  25. Oh well....when Tony Kemp takes you out...ya' got nuthin'
