    Can't really blame Montoya either. If I were him would I have come with Giles three nights in a row....Damned right I would. Giles probably can't wait to get outta' Toronto before his arm falls off.

    Too many nights in a row for Giles. Really sort of a shame for him and that was yet another dink shot by a hitter. What a joke of a HR. Hardly got any of that and knocked it out of the park.

    Sliders.....if I were anywhere involved in MLB or any level of professional baseball unless my pitchers had Sale like sliders I would demand they forget how to throw it and come up with something else. Its day has come and gone. Could come back again just as the Curve has come back again. But it is a terrible pitch for this version of MLB.

    So there is a good example of why they are throwing more Curves and less Sliders. The Curve breaks bigger and if you leave it in the middle of the plate there might just be enough break on it for the hitter to miss it. Sogard did not miss that one but at least there is a chance. Leave a rolling Slider in the middle of the plate and there is not enough break on it and way more chance that the hitter is not going to miss and it is in a terrible location to boot....crushville especially with this MLB baseball.

    I am surprised more guys are not trying to master the split finger. It is a well designed pitch for this generation but hard as heck to throw. Pitchers are throwing buckets and buckets of Change ups and a tremendous number of Curveballs now across baseball. Not as many Sliders being thrown because a mistake with a Slider is just meat. You have to leave a Change up out over to really make a mistake with it. But just roll a Slider up to the plate and you will leave it in the middle. That means you have thrown a Chavis.

    That pitch is designed to finish off the plate. How far off....you are talking a couple inches between a pitch that is bounced in front of the plate and low enough to finish out of the strike zone without bouncing in front of the plate. In other words, Barnes is trying to get a swinging strike with that pitch without actually having it finish in the strike zone. The number of pitchers that can throw good enough to throw in the strike zone is rapidly diminishing thanks to the sparsity of good pitching and the rocket ship baseball. Pitches finishing in the strike zone is death to this generation of pitchers.

    So you can see the box Montoya is in playing out right in front of us. He got more than he should have expected out of Panini Sandwiches but still kept him in too long in the 6th. He should have come out after the walk. But Montoya could not afford to take him out. Then when Montoya was probably desperate to bring in Biagini to pitch to Chavis, he was stuck. These guys are all worn down and they all suck to boot across baseball. There are so few teams that you can say are fat in pitching in MLB that virtually everybody is in the same box. We are really not in better shape at least as far as the pen. Our expectations for the rotation have certainly not been met. But its not like there are buckets of teams with good pens. Its not like there are buckets of teams with good rotations.

    Then again, the Jays Manager is stuck in the same box Cora is in. How many times have we seen Biagini? Yet that is all Montoya had to bring if he wanted to come get Mayza to have somebody proper pitch to Chavis. There is simply no pitching in MLB. None....zippo.....nada. A few decent arms surrounded by buckets of sludge. Somebody is going to grab Giles off this team....probably Stroman too.

    Should never have let Mayza pitch to Chavis. He could not control his breaking pitches and that is all Chavis can really hit...a breaking ball in the middle of the plate. Mayza had no idea where his Slider was going tonight. Wild in the strike zone is hardly any different than wild off the plate....just more damaging to the pitcher.

    If they were going to stick with Panini Sandwiches like that, he needed to be able to get them the first out of this inning. He never looked like he was going to get that first out. Leaves the Jays with guys on and nobody out.

    I sorta' can't believe the Jays are trying to get more out of the Sandwich here. He has gone a long way in this game. 6-1 is a nice lead. But its not insurmountable here.

    I think we are about to see the end of Panini Sandwiches. He has been pretty tough for a sandwich. Hopefully we can get a run or two before he exits.

    Why does this franchise turn Managers into Zombies? Doesn't Cora already have that distant glazed over Tito look at the tail end of Tito? Farrell for his part just turned into a walking Port-o-potty. That is all I could think about as he trudged out to the mound every game....a big blue walking Port-o-potty.

    I might as well warn you guys now. You are welcome to pay attention to the stuff I offer that comes from my baseball experience. But I am going to be a handful with regard to the overall performance of this organization for the rest of the year because they are going to TANK and not for draft picks. Lucky to make a WC birth and then go quietly. So just don't feel bad about ignoring me on that score. I am likely to be intolerable for the next 75+ games.

    The pitching is unconscionably horrible for what they are paying for it. They could hit better, particularly the superstars and that cute little beni. But the pitching has sunk to the general level of suckage that is MLB generally only we are paying more for it to add insult to injury. But anybody that thinks all these balls should be leaving is just blind. I simply do not know why baseball fans accept this "opener" nonsense and "quality start" nonsense without realizing that they are more than the canary in the coal mine.....MLB has killed off a dozen canaries by now.

    As far as Beni sitting is concerned, based mostly on the fact that they are trying once again to shorten his stride which has to happen but is hurting him in actual competition at this point I can see sitting him. If you roll back the video to the last game he was in, you can literally see him trying to stay more upright and shortening his stride which absolutely has to happen. But the result trying to do it in actual game competition is that he is totally lost in the batter's box. Add to that its obviously now effected his fielding discipline and they have to sit him. No choice. Maybe a few games, maybe not. Probably depends on what they see in the batting cage.

    Actually I think DD handed Cora a trick deck of cards and Henry's pulse simply does not rise for any reason. Why should it?

    The Mutts in the rotation have to be protected though, a missed start here and there etc etc. Cora wants to preserve their golf swings for October.

    If Manfred has his way there won't be any pitchers in baseball. Machines will simply serve the ball up to the plate. Its a double spiral to hell. The quality of ML pitching has gone straight into the toilet and pitchers are scared to death to throw strikes because all hitters have to do is flick their bats at this rocket ship baseball AND its outta' here or its a hot smash into the gap if they just don't get under it enough.
