  1. It's obviously the guys who have been around forever Pedroia and Papi. But if you just exclude those obvious picks then Nava.
  2. Henry Owens had another great outing tonight going 5ip 0h 3bb 0er 10k. Since he has been called up to double a he has pretty much continued to dominate. In his last six outings he has had 3 outings where he didn't surrender a hit. His line over those six starts is pretty amazing 33 2/3 ip 12 h 16bb 6er 55k. The walks are obviously high but with more time he looks to have some plus stuff and hopefully a good future.
  3. Yeah I am glad someone brought him up as i was wondering what his deal was as i haven't heard anything about him at all.
  4. Jordan Walden was hurt and only pitched half a year in 2012, still put up respectable numbers. He is back to being around his 2011 levels if not better this year. You haven't heard about him as much probably because he is in the NL. I agree you can't predict relievers as accurately as other positions, but any reliever who has proved they can pitch well in Boston I think the front office will be more willing to give a 2 year deal on, or go into next year with Koji as the closer.
  5. I think its great that all three of these guys are signed for next year that Tazawa still has two more arbitration eligible years after that.
  6. Not keeping Tazawa is crazy, as he has three Arbitration eligible years left. If you get two good years out of the three he will be a bargin. He has pitched really well this whole year except a few bad outings and he has only had one month with an era over 3 (3.29).
  7. He might accept a qualifying offer but 20 million guaranteed is the minimum he will make. He had two terrible years before he signed with us and we still payed 9.5 million for him.
  8. I think most Redsox fans thought if he could be a .260-.270 hitter he would have great value on a major league line up with how excellent his glove is. His problem is that the redsox have someone they believe can be at least a league average shortstop (defensively) and way above position average at the plate(hitting and discipline). They also have other prospects they like (Cecchini and maybe Middlebrooks) for third. That left Jose in a tough spot, and though he performed well, he had high enough value for the redsox to package with low level prospects to get another starter that was more needed than a ss this year. If you really wanted to keep Iglesias you had to believe that the sox had enough pitching to win this year as is because they would not have traded Bogaerts for peavy, or lee. Also most of this can Bogaerts stay at short is based off only a few scouts opinions. Many other scouts believe he can stay for a good portion or the majority of his career .
  9. yeah only 1 million of us and most play hockey.
  10. I was just wanted to put a little post up about him and his debut for the Twins. He held the Royals scoreless for 8 and 1/3 innings giving up four hits and one walk getting the win. It was a pretty exciting for me to watch as he is from my hometown ( North Battleford, Saskatchewan) and was the first Saskatchewan born player to get a win in the majors in over three decades.
  11. Doubront has been fantastic this year. He's on his way to being a very good #2 or #3 starter. His success this year has a lot to do with a few things, he is inducing a lot more groundballs than before (just over 4% more) and all ready has more double plays this year than all of last year. His homerun rate is way down from last year, that is a little luck but also he is doing a much better job of getting groundballs so a little skill as well. He is throwing less two seam fastballs and more regular ones and his cutter which he just added last year was a terrible pitch last year for him is much improved this year ( and because of that he is throwing it way more than last year). And mostly if you watch him pitch this year vs last year, he just goes after hitters more often.
  12. The Marlins don't care that Stanton doesn't want to be there. They will not trade him until his final year unless someone does gut there farm system. There hope is that he will just play through his days at best effort because it's in his best interest for when he hits the free agent market to play well before he is a free agent. Also the front office of the Marlins is trying to show him a bit of upside saying hey maybe it won't be that bad here after next year with the incredibly talented Jose Fernandez, the emergence of Jacob turner ( who has to very reasonable option years left) and Bringing up Yelich and Marisnick to start there on the job training. honestly i know they sold off there team, but other than Reyes they might be a better team all around because of it by next year.
  13. Yeah i listened on the radio to Websters game. Its good to see him bounce back these last two outings after a few really poor outings ( in the minors and majors). I mean Webster is still only 23 lots of time to develop still.
  14. So great to watch that game. I started freaking out and was given a stern look by the lady of the house as the baby was just falling asleep. Luckily the redsox won and my baby didn't wake up.
  15. Never should have had it in the first place, he just has long term goals for the team.
  16. Hopefully Peavy can work out some of his homerun issues because Fenway can be very unkind if you have problems giving up the long ball.
  17. Well Papelbon was giving Amaro advice. He told them to blow the team up.
  18. So, we traded for 1.5 to 2.5 years of a guy whose problem is the same as Buccholz? And people here are really understanding of Clay.
  19. So i assume workman is out of the rotation.
  20. Whitesox also really wanted to drop salary as peavy could hit the 400 innings he needs to trigger the 2015 in his deal.
  21. I don't know how Doubront can't be relied on, he's had 14 consecutive starts of 3 runs or less and 10 of those fourteen he has gone at least 6 innings.
  22. I agree totally, i would like to actually maybe add a bullpen arm for a low level prospect, maybe someone like Mookie Betts ( as i hear he is kinda blocked at the major league level for a while)and another player for a decent reliever. I mean really, Workman has looked decent so far, and Britton looks like he could be a good relief pitcher down the stretch.
  23. I know Nava screwed up, but how is the ump out of position? If he is on the other side he calls him safe.
  24. Ellsbury did make the first move and sent a clear signal to the Redsox. He fired his agent and hired Scott boras in 2007. Youk Pedroia Buccholz and Lester signed a contract to buy out there arbitration eligilbe years and sometimes a few more. Ellsbury was not interested. Also Scott Boras does not sign extensions in mid season, or really in any contract year. Ellsbury made the statement i love it in Boston, if they pay the most, which is fine that's his right.
