  1. Ok, how can I adequately apologize so you guys can be happy? Other than Forsyth, people who drop F bombs on me on more than one occasion can go screw. I understand why it was distasteful. Sorry I misjudged the room. I meant no disrespect to the deceased. Being honest, not just trying to make nice. My name is Ben and today I am a tool.
  2. Forsyth, shut up. You're being a tool. So i made a distasteful joke. My fault. Try and be more of a dick about it.
  3. My bad then I guess, but really it just seems like people want an excuse to pile on me here. It's cool though, I like it.
  4. Sense of humor surplus in here.
  5. If its injectable maybe we should have a shipment of this mojo sent to Carl Crawfords first 90 AB's
  6. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ Well, I guess anything is possible. Just goes to show, even a Boras client might opt for security over top dollar. That said, I think Weaver is in love with LA. I doubt Ellsbury feels that way here in Boston, especially after what happened with the misdiagnosis of his ribs last year and the way he was raked over the coals by the media here, but thats just speculation on my part.
  7. Here's hopin the Sox win and Josh Hamilton doesn't kill any fans.
  8. You think a one month drop off in a players performance affects the Sox's long term plans for a player? I would be pretty surprised if that were the case. Baseball is a game of adjustments. Scouts get paid a lot of money to find a player's flaws, and especially when you're a young player who's having a lot of success early on you know the league will get the book on you soon. The past month for Reddick doesn't mean anything to the Red Sox, it's how he adjusts and bounces back that matters to them. Theo's said numerous times that it's an important part of every players development to fail at every level. That's when you learn whether or not a guy can play every day and that's what we're about to learn about Reddick. Also, I don't know how we can say a guy who lost a year to injury is more likely the RF of the future over a guy who is probably going to hit .275/.330/.450 in the bigs this year in a worst case scenario. I don't think Reddick or Kalish has any impact on Ells' future with the Sox. If he continues as a perennial .300 30/30 threat, he's going to market and thats not a good thing, but I think he'll be a Red Sox for a while. I could be wrong, but Lester is a FA the same year, no? I'm not saying this will be the case, but if it comes down to Lester or Ells I tend to doubt the Sox would choose to pay Ellsbury.
  9. glad we are in agreement. and, its not even one season we believe makes him a bust. it was his first 90 at bats that put us over the edge. kobe beef is good though.
  10. Devil is in the details. My club is that Crawford IS a bust. Cause he is. Have fun with your cute little club though. Mine is clearly superior/more correct cause he's bad.
  11. I'm betting he gets 4/56 from some off the radar team and pitches two good years before crapping his pants and making the entire city he plays for sad and cranky.
  12. Anybody is welcome to join my club. We're organizing a petition to Theo to trade Carl to Japan for a Sony PS3 and some Kobe beef. Good deal, imo.
  13. Great deal for the Sox. Maybe if they can slip Boras a roofie, that could get done. Let's all calm our pants tent on Jacoby Ellsbury. It's one amazing season. 2008-2009 he was an OK hitter who played pretty bad defense. To me, the only thing about this year that I would be willing to bank on going forward is that he continues to play a much improved CF. I'm not willing to bet ~20mil/year that he will produce at this level for the duration of whatever deal he might sign if I'm the Red Sox. Never pay for a career year. We have him under our control for two more full-seasons. Considering the agent, we know he's not coming at a discount and that he'll go year to year like Papelbon to maximize his earnings. Let's see what happens over the next two years. What if in a couple years it's too hard to fit Ells and Lester, I'd personally rather keep Lester.
  14. Carl Crawford has looked absolutely lost at the plate the past couple of days.
  15. I think it's pretty reasonable to expect he'll be looking for more than that over 3-4 years.
  16. Yeah, I'll jump on that bandwagon. Anybody know how Lavarnaway looks behind the dish? Maybe Salty/Lavarnaway could be our catchers next year. Move one onto DH to give Ortiz an occasional blow. Could work.
  17. They're only 2.5 back and the only spot in their rotation where they could use an upgrade is the 5th spot. Wandy doesn't present a guaranteed upgrade over what they have either, he's just expensive and could keep them from going after much better options in the offseason. This Guardians team is really young, I think they're expecting to compete year in year out, they're not desperate to clog their payroll at the moment. Besides, Huff is throwing well and it's Carmona and Ubaldo who are letting them down. They'll get Carrasco off the DL and maybe have a decision to make as to whether or not to keep running Carmona out there, but he's been better lately. Wandy is stuck in Houston I'd imagine.
  18. Sounds about right to me if Middlebrooks continues to progress.
  19. I don't think it is, personally. You may be right, because Francona sometimes is loyal to people for god knows why and he slotted Lackey as the #2 going into the season. I think that was about sending a message to Beckett, but I could be way off base. I think they'll go with the best pitcher come playoff time, and to me, that will definitely be Bedard. He's been better than Lackey his whole career.
  20. On second thought, Lackey had a cute little run of not getting full on raped but he's been pretty atrocious across the board. Probably can't expect much from him. God, can we give this guy the renteria treatment and send him to the NL west somehow?
  21. I would love for Miller to take some confidence from this and bring it with him into the bullpen. That'd be huge for us down the stretch if he could be a useful bullpen arm. I think Erik Bedard has pitched about as well as Miller did tonight in all three of his starts so far. Our pitching has the potential to shape up nicely, especially if Lackey's recent turn around isn't a mirage.
  22. Crawford is so terrible. A better hitter would have legged out a triple or hit the ball harder. He looks lost. I think mentally he can't handle the heat kansas city is bringing.
