The simple fact is Kimbrel is garbage. Why are his pitches so damn wild?? Playoffs obviously are in his head and he can’t take high pressure. 6 hits 5 runs and god knows how many walks in 5 innings is absolutely pathetic for any pitcher. Let alone your shut down closer.

Good point. And I agree. They have the pitching matchup and build off of confidence. They take this one tonight I’m not so confident we take this series.

He was much more competitive in game 2 then meets the eye. Xander was one bad throw away from getting Price 5 innings with just 2 earned runs. I expect 5 innings (hopefully 6) with no more than 2 runs. The question is, can this offence get the bats swinging against Verlander unlike game 1.

I have to take my hat off to Houston fans. Just browsing their forum they are still confident they can win this series. They believe they have the pitching matchup the next two days and then anything can happen in game 7. Although they definitely have the pitching match up tonight, this won't be easy for them. Then again they thought they would sweep us, then win in 5, now they think they will win in 7. Special breed of fans over there in Houston I tell you.

This. I truly think Kimbrel would have two blown saves if not for this defence. Any other team he doesn’t get out of last night. No chance. They have saved him on numerous occasions. His command simply just isn’t there that it was in the regular season and in my opinion it really boils down to nerves. He’s had more than enough starts now in the playoffs he should be getting over that s***. And if he can’t don’t be a closer.

This is what I don’t get. Takes an enterinity between pitches to the point I’m surprised an Ump doesn’t tell him to hurry up. And still misses his target by a mile.

Agreed. Kimbrel is his own worst enemy. And it’s only in high pressure games. He tries to do way too much. He needs to relax and just throw is what it comes down to. He has an amazing defence that can bail him out. But he throws entirely too many balls and gets inside his own head. How he hasn’t blown a game yet in the playoffs is absolutely beyond me.

On the plus Price was a lot better in his second start than he was game 1. If not for Xander taking his sweet time throwing that ball. Price would have went 5 innings giving up 2 runs. I think Price can give us 5 innings tonight.

Although I tend to agree. I think a closer gets the brunt of the pressure like Kimbrel closing out in the playoffs against the Yankees and last night against the Astros. Yes I know a pitcher isn’t suppose to look at it that way. It should just be another inning to them. But I think a tight ball game on the line and in the 9th inning especially playoffs or World Series does take a special player to pitch with that kind of pressure. Kimbrel sure as f*** has shown how he deals wirh pressure as of late.

I would like to see an actual closer that we can lean on in that role. It’s not mandatory but it sure as hell helps come playoffs. Just ask the Dodgers with Jansen. I would be fine with giving Barnes an opportunity. He’s really been pitching some good baseball. Billywilliams mentioned Drake Britton. I don’t know enough about him. But sure see what he’s got.

I can’t take him and his heart attack finishes anymore. If it wasn’t for the defence bailing him out twice last night Houston likely wins that game. Assuming he’s not a Sox player in 2019 or anytime after who would you want as a closer?

Please close this out. Price is starting? Please get a big enough lead we don’t have to see Kimbrels face in this game.
