  1. Any reports come out on where Kimbrel will likely end up? Last I heard the Twins were looking at him.
  2. I'm just glad we have the talent we do, that if our pen isn't good to start the season our starting rotation and offense should be enough to carry us. Hopefully....
  3. I agree with this. I respect them for how good they are, but don't like them. I am a Canadian so my teams range from the Red Sox in baseball, to the Colts in NFL, and the Ottawa Senators in the NHL. I guess the Toronto Raptors in the NBA but I am not a huge basketball fan.
  4. Ya it is what it is. Pearce is a very good player. I still like the signing. I would have been fine either way. Still relief pitchers out there the Sox can get...... maybe. If we need one. Which I’m not entirely sure we do.
  5. Which is a good. If we can get a player or two for a decent price I’m not against it.
  6. Lol sounds logical!
  7. We still have a lot of strong pieces to compete and maybe even repeat this season. The Yankees will be very tough competition as they always are. Should be a good battle in the division. Yankees at times made it ridiculous close to who would win the division. I don't rule Tampa out either to be a huge pain in the ass.
  8. There is some truth to that I agree. Sometimes though it happens that way. The coaching staff might think with the players we have we can be competitive so might not be reason to make any huge trades. Not saying that’s the case but it’s how things unfold sometimes. Until you hit the mid way point in the season and realize “oh we should do something, the relief pitching is brutal” I’m thankful we have a team as talented as we do that will allow us (hopefully) to work out some kinks we may have.
  9. Whatever the Pen is in regular season to start likely won't be how it finishes and go into the postseason (if we make the playoffs) Our offense and starting rotation is good enough to win us a ton of games. We have a very smart coaching staff (as shown how good the relief pitching was in the playoffs) I trust it will be worked out by the start of the season. And if there is still some wrinkles, so be it.... Won't be enough in my opinion to really slow us down.
  10. Ya I can’t see it happened. A team like Philly or something will sign him for a good chunk. I agree that with the right price I wouldn’t mind keeping him. And although last season in the post season was a “small sample size” as some like to call it. It was very concerning for the price he likely wants and will get.
  11. This 100%
  12. If you think Kimbrel was sharp in the playoffs give your head a shake man. Maybe that is too strong of a thing to say he almost cost us the playoffs, however everytime he got out there (other than the World Series he improved) it was a heart attack and if it wasn't for us having a 2 or 3 run lead he would have blown it. Not sad to see him leave. The 5 games he played against the Yanks and Astros he gave up 5 runs. Also gave up 2 runs in game 4 in the World Series. Hardly classifies as a shut down closer. He got us a lot of closes this season I'll give you that, but he isn't some valuable God that we need to keep. He especially can't be relied upon to go anything more than 3 innings if need be. He does it, but it's a heart attack waiting to happen.
  13. To me it doesn't even need to be explained. Kimbrel nearly cost us in the playoffs more times than I care to count. Try Barnes in the closing role and if it doesn't work out adjust at that time. In my opinion it can't get much worse than Kimbrel (on paper he was good with closes) but if we didn't have a 2 or 3 or more run lead in 3 (maybe 4) of those games Kimbrel would have blown it for us and maybe a chance at the World Series. Kimbrel shook off whatever he had going on near the end there and pitched well in the Dodgers series but he is too inconsistent for my liking.
  14. This is exactly my thoughts. Our rotation is too good to take someone out and try and fill that role. It's the power of our team especially if the consistency of Price and Sale continue. The bullpen was our weakness for a big chunk of last season but seemed to improve late in the season.
  15. What would it look like if we did this? I think our bullpen is good enough to leave the starting rotation alone. I guess you could move Porcello to the bullpen but who fills that spot?
  16. To be fair the pen was much better late in the season (specifically in the playoffs) Our pen was the weakness of the team but did a hell of a job against some very good teams in the playoffs.
  17. Looks like Atlanta has a good chance at snaggin Kimbrel.
  18. I one time saw a thread on toe jam. I think anything can be a thread lol.
  19. I would be ok with him coming back. Especially in the playoffs having a weapon like that to come in and pitch any inning is a beauty to have.
  20. Interesting. With so many teams Needing starting pitching I am surprised so many teams wanted him as a closer. I guess because he was so clutch in the postseason they think he would be really good in the ninth-inning....
  21. Damn happy!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who isn’t too bad. It’s a done deal!!!!!
  22. I have 8 hats 2 jerseys (Pedroia, Ortiz) 3 shirts 3 jackets And a toque lol
  23. Didn’t follow much of his career but heres to a good retirement!
  24. I hope this doesn’t happen. I still really want to sign Eovaldi. But regardless this team has too much talent. Losing Eovaldi would suck but wouldn’t be the end of the world.
  25. Maybe he will be our MVP next year?
