  1. Missed the game through work. Was it bad?
  2. I may not have watched, the games don't fit in with UK time/working. But I woke almost hourly to check the scores and yes it felt s*** to see the final result. I'm also a Liverpool supporter over here and to blame J Henry and LFC isn't exactly fair either. Liverpool have had their fair share of disaters and pain over the years, some not even sporting related. Anyway, anyone who didn't see this happening 2/3 weeks ago must have been highly optimistic. I've seen my fair share of teams collapse in various sports and what was happening to the Red Sox had all the signs that this was not going to any different. These kind of ruts have to be addressed early on, as the longer they go the harder they are to stop. One the BJ's were within 2 games behind with the momentum on their side then you were just hoping that we'd scrape over the line. It's a s*** feeling, no matter which side of the pond you are on. But I'll say that in the time Henry has had Liverpool he hasn't been scared at all to make the hard decisions, decisions that the Red Sox need this off season.
  3. English born now living up near Glasgow. The naff thing is the late games like 7/8pm ET are like 12/1am GMT so they are hard to see live depending on what time I am up in the morning. Have to say though the MLB.tv is well worth it and the quality of stream is unbelievable even viewing it in the UK.
  4. With reference to the UK, Soccer, Rugby, Golf and Cricket have always been the dominant sports played by the majorities. These sports were all created in the UK and because their origins are so deep rooted in history they will always be the main sports. That doesn't mean American sports aren't popular over here. Baseball has a good following especially now it is shown on ESPN, Ice Hockey is played by various clubs at pro levels, Basketball is getting played in schools/colleges and of course the NFL playing games at Wembley has gone down a storm. Looking at baseball in particular though, there just aren't the readily available facilities to go play games and it is not something that schools teach to young people. Softball was a rare occurence at my school even though everyone loved playing it when we did.
  5. I've always found it odd the way they divisions are structured. I guess being in the uk and watching football (round ball type) I'm just used to seeing divisions consisting of 20+ teams. The one with best record and top of the league wins the trophy. I understand the history of the American/National leagues etc, but why are they further split into East/Centraal/West? Is it historical to do with the geographical elements when travel was difficult or something else totally different?
  6. Hello all! First loved baseball when I was 11 on my first holiday to the USA. Been a casual fan ever since then but there wasn't much coverage in the UK. Really got back into it since John Henry, and NESV as they were then, took over my football club Liverpool FC. It rekindled my big interest in baseball and the only logical choice were the Red Sox! A little hazy on the finer points of the game but getting there, so if I say something a little stupid just point me in the right direction
