No lead is safe with Wakefield.

It all depends on whether Francona has smarted up to the fact that Wakefield absolutely blows in the 7th inning. If Francona pulls him after 6, he'll give up about 3-4. After that, it's 5-6 runs. Wake has an 8.64 ERA in the 7th inning. Brutal.

Well you know our offense is going to explode because Wakefield is pitching. He averages 7.95 Runs of Support per game. Ridiculous. That's almost 3 runs more per outing than Beckett's 5.05 RS.

I don't know, but what else we would do? Jed and Aviles can both play 2B, SS, and 3B. Option back Randy Williams when Lowrie comes up. That leaves a bench of Lowrie, Aviles, McDonald, and Varitek. Bullpen of Pap - Bard - Albers - Aceves - Morales - Wheeler, and a 6 man rotation of Beckett - Lester - Lackey - Bedard - Miller - Wakefield. The question is, when Drew comes off the DL, who goes? Maybe he just doesn't come off the DL until roster expansion on 9/1. But then who ducks out on the postseason roster?

Lowrie could be back by this weekend? Wow. That'd be nice if Lowrie could make it back by this weekend and at least be available for the game against CC. He's a huge addition vs LHP, especially when you use him instead of Scutaro.

And damn. Go easy on Crawford, the guy has 6.5 years before we can call him a failure. I'm sure all of you were singing this same tune last season when Beckett was having a bad year, calling him a failure in his extension, and now he's posting a 2.20 ERA in August. You still going to call him a failure? Look at Crawford's track record. Does this season look like a trend or an aberration for him? I know he's been awful this year, but before we dog him, lets give him more than 350 of his probable 4,500 PA to prove his worth. Judging Crawford's contract at this point is the equivalent of judging Pedroia's season after his first 50 AB.

Welcome to the Red Sox, Erik Bedard. That's how we run this s***. But seriously, I watched the replay again this morning of the walkoff, and noticed that Bedard was one of the most amped people out on the field. Pretty cool to see for a new guy. He was way more excited than I've ever seen Eeyore Drew after a walkoff.
