This is an absolutely unfathomable post. You're judging his contract based on 82 games into a 7 year deal. I don't even know how to respond to this.
Like I have said time and time again. Look at his career numbers. Does this year look like a trend or an aberration? Look at Beckett in 2010, were you wanting to dish him last season? Because someone else would have a 2.20 ERA pitcher right now. What about Lackey this season? You want to throw him to the wolves? What if he comes up in October and goes 4-0 with a 2.78 ERA?
Good Lord man. Relax with the dogging of Crawford. If it's 3 years into his deal and he's hitting .240, fine, whatever. But right now, give him at least a chance to turn it around. From May 1, Crawford is hitting .283. His OBP is down, but he's slugging .450, which isn't terrible. Again, it's a down year for him, but considering he's a career .296 hitter, I would say he's got the ability to get extremely hot.
It was just last September that he had a month where he hit .360/.402/.588 with 41 hits, 4 HR, 5 3B. Whose to say he can't get that hot again??
It's ridiculous to kill Crawford over 82 games and call his contract a complete bust. Maybe he doesn't hit .250 this year, but we all know the kind of player Crawford is when we signed him, so do you think he just lost all of his talent overnight?
