  1. The stupidest decision of the entire season was to give the combination of Lackey/Wakefield/Weiland/Miller 14 starts in September, and not giving Aceves a single start. Lackey/Wakefield/Weiland/Miller have combined to throw 65.2 IP over 14 starts (4.2 IP per start) to an ERA of 8.36. But Aceves is too valuable in the bullpen because he's so good at mop up duty after any one of those 4 starters go. f***ing ridiculous.
  2. Francona should be out after this season. Given, the team has been playing terribly, and that's on the players, but if it's not the managers fault when the team plays bad, and it's not the managers fault when the team plays good, why the hell do we have a manager? I'm pretty sure Varitek, the team captain, could put together a lineup card every night, and Papelbon, the vet in the bullpen, could handle the bullpen. So, this is on Francona, not only for not turning this thing around this month, but also for not getting this team ready in Spring Training. They just cruised in ST, and thought they could throw their gloves on the field and win games. The replacement? Dennis Eckersley. Would there be a better manager than Eck?? I don't think so. When they're facing a s***** pitcher, he's going to be in the dugout telling all of his hitters this guy is throwing straight cheese. That he's got a wet noodle and we're going to crush him. When you've got your pitcher out there blowing up, he's going to tell you. He's the white Ozzie Guillen. Dennis Eck for Manager, 2012.
  3. I've seen so many anticipated changes for this team for 2012, mainly in the front office/team management. So here's a thread to discuss all things non-players. We already have the 2011-2012 Offseason Thread. Who is going to be gone, and who is their replacement?
  4. Lots of variables tonight. Can Bedard come out and give this team a boost? Can the offense come out and put up a few crooked numbers, and take the pitching out of the game? Can the rookie, Hellickson, come out and calm the nerves to be effective in the biggest game of his career? Who knows? It's why they play the game. The Rays could very well lose tonight, and the Sox could very well win.
  5. [/b] This may be true, but I'm going to wait until Thursday to confirm this. It's not like this team has no history of having it's back against the wall. Hopefully they come out and play like 04 or 07. Hell, even 08 when we were down 3-1 to the Rays and forced a game 7. It's all or nothing now.
  6. Have you seen David Price in high pressure situations?? Last game, against TOR, he was throwing the ball all over the place. He let up 5 runs, but only 2 of them were earned. The other 3 were on his own errors. He does not throw well under pressure. Just look at last year's post season numbers. 4.97 ERA. Rays lose on Wednesday. And if Colon can somehow muster up a decent start, the Yankees can beat Hellickson as well.
  7. I don't think the Sox are going to be in on any bidding wars this offseason. Their salary going into next season is set at $126mm. Then you have to add all your arbitration guys (Ellsbury included), which would take that up to around $142mm. Ortiz gets $10mm, Pap gets $15mm, that puts this team at $167mm. Then you have to replace Drew (Kalish, $450k), Wakefield (Free Agent, $2mm), Varitek (Lavarnway, $450k). That alone gets you up to $170mm. Then the whole dumpster diving for bullpen arms, and depth arms. Unfortunately, unless we let Ortiz or Papelbon walk, anything we acquire is going to have to be a cheap option via trade. Unless, of course, it's for Felix, and he makes $60mm over the next 3 years, so he would be expensive, but I would trade the farm for him.
  8. At least we're facing Britton (10.80 ERA vs BOS in 2011) and Simon (5.80 ERA vs BOS in 2011) over the next two games. Bedard and Lester need to get their s*** together and pull this team out of the grave. Tampa will lose one of the next two, so just win out.
  9. You may be right. But you know what sucks? You'll still be using the internet at the library and eating hot pockets and living with roommates from craigslist in your moms basement for years. I guess we win.
  10. I'm f***ing numb. Seriously, f*** you Red Sox. You f***ing failure choke artists. Go home and don't come back. I'd rather play with Pawtucket than these pieces of s***.
  11. un f***ing believable.
  12. Sox score 6 here.
  13. good job, red sox. You have officially pissed away your 9 game lead in September, and guess what? You're the biggest collapse in US sports history. Here's to you, Red Sox. f*** off.
  14. i f***ing hate baseball
  15. Tied in the wild card. Awesome.
  16. Wow. Getting beat by Chris Davis. Wow.
  17. Beckett needs to go to offspeed stuff. He is leaving too many fastballs up.
  18. With Reynolds' success against Beckett, walking him isn't the worst idea in the world, got Chris Davis up next.
  19. Huge freaking K right there. Get this guy some runs for God's sake. Lets freaking go.
  20. When the hell did Shoppach learn how to hit the long ball?? 4-2 Rays.
  21. That's an absolutely terrible 2-0 swing. Absolutely horrendous.
  22. Alright. Time to pummel Hunter. Rip this guy.
