  1. Youk with a 2 out RBI double in Pawtucket.
  2. Weiters is a good enough catcher that he would have had the ball cut off and then Aviles would have been picked off.
  3. Why would you want to take the bat out of Ortiz's hand when he can pop one with a man on base?
  4. Thatta boy Byrd!!! He was bookin it down that line!!!
  5. Tommy Hunter just about got Charlie Brown'd there.
  6. Wow Marlon Byrd. Thatta boy!!!! Lets go Linsanity!
  7. Don't want to jinx anything but Clay looks locked in tonight. His changeup and his curveball have got a ton of life.
  8. That's not always the case. A lot of pitchers try to get ahead with a first pitch fastball that catches a lot of plate, but hitters take because they don't want quick outs.
  9. Wow. Royals already out in front of Yankees, 2-0 in the 1st.
  10. Considering it's Hunter, I'd rather see them first pitch swinging than trying to push him out of the game. He's going to be the easiest guy they can push across runs against tonight.
  11. I would absolutely bet that the Sox win this series. The Sox have a pitching advantage here.
  12. Alan Porter. Never heard of him, which is probably a good thing.
  13. I'd be shocked if we didn't score 6+ runs against Hunter.
  14. Alright - Outfielders who are likely available for a trade: Carlos Quentin (SD) - May actually work, but his defense is terrible. Carlos Lee (Hou) - Yikes. Huge contract but a good power hitter. Jeff Franceour (KC) - Very good platoon player. Under contract for 2 years/13.5mm. Not sure the Royals are willing to part with him, and I'm not sure he'd like to be traded. Seems to love KC. Denard Span (Min) - Great defender, not much power, but has a .360 OBP. Bit of an underrated player. Would fill in nicely as a leadoff hitter in Ellsbury's absence. Definitely a possibility. That's all I can really come up with. Nothing to be excited about.
  15. I will say this - A line up of: Aviles Pedroia Ortiz Gonzalez Youkilis Middlebrooks Salty Sweeney Nava Is pretty enticing, all things considered.
  16. I would be happy with 2/3 but I really am feeling a sweep. But winning the series is all this team needs to consistently do and they will be fine.
  17. The offense just put up 3 runs against Hamels in 7 IP and 5 ER against Lee in 7 IP. The offense is clicking right now. Doubront has a 2.50 ERA in his last 3 starts, and Buchholz has looked good as well (3.97 ERA in last 2 starts). Over the last 7 days, the Red Sox are hittihg .265 with an .825 OPS and averaging 6.43 runs per game. In that same span, the Orioles are hitting .251 with a .730 OPS and averaging 5.43 runs per game. Over the last 7 days, the Sox pitching staff has a 2.31 ERA, whereas Baltimore is starting to come back down to earth with a 4.33 ERA. The two teams are trending in opposite directions, and the 3 pitchers the Sox face have been putrid of late. Hunter has given up 11 ER in his past 17.1 IP (5.71 ERA) Matusz has given up 12 ER in his past 16.1 IP (6.61 ERA) Arrieta has given up 14 ER in his past 14 IP (9.00 ERA) So I would say there is some reason for optimism.
  18. Negative. 3 game set. Sox have their first off day on Thursday since early May.
  19. Red Sox missing both Hammel AND Chen in this series? Uh. Yes please. This could very well turn into a 3 game sweep for the Sox. The Sox are playing extremely well right now, hitting the ball very well, pitching well, and are going up against the bottom 3 of the Orioles staff.
