I know I read somewhere that the FO ruled out moving Youk to left, but if Beltre can be had for cheaper than expected (personally just think A's are playing hardball) then I think it's still possible we try to resign him.
Just got back in and didn't have access to my computer. Last I saw the deal was dead and now
I wonder how active Theo will be in discussing trades after this deal or whether he will stick with free agents. I may be a bit greedy, but I hope we continue to go after more players to improve the team.
I wouldn't be opposed to putting Youk in LF since Beltre plays great defense at 3B. I kind of feel like silence from the Red Sox is good news for now. I'm starting to feel a bit more optimistic but not very cautious.
I don't see why 8 years is such a big deal to be honest. He will be 36 or so at the end of the contract and he has averaged 30+ HR's a season for 4 years now. If they were willing to do six that tells me his shoulder is not of much concern to them.

This is going to get ugly quick.
If that is true, then it sucks that we only had until 2 to get this done right away, there is a possibility if he does not want to talk about an extension later on that the Sox don't do the trade after all.
