I am a lifelong Liverpool fan for the past 35 years, to say we are xenophobic against Americans and we are hooligans is quite disappointing and insulting. Not all of us are communist, flag burning eejits. I think your view is very short-sighted and narrow-minded.
Like most normal like-minded Liverpool fans, we have great respect for our opposing teams. This was only reflected last week when Blackpool fans were wandering around Liverpool city shaking hands with Liverpool fans who actually applauded them after the match at Anfield. With regards to the hooligan element, we were not the only club in Europe who were plagued with a hooligan element in the 1980s, you should go to Celtic V Rangers, a Lazio V Roma match, Ajax V Feyernood, Barcelona V Real Madrid, Fenerbahce v Galatasaray, Boca Juniors v River Plate then you will see they also had their fair share of problems. Anyway, all the clubs in Europe have made a concerted effort to stamp out hooliganism and racism, so what you're sayin is old news anyway
We are family orientated club, if you ever got a chance to go to Anfield and see the legendary electric atmosphere legendary, then you only would understand our devotion and passion for our club. Soccer is watched all over the world. Liverpool FC is one of the few clubs that have a global collective fan base reaching as far as Asia, Australia, Japan, the Middle East and Africa and believe it or not even in Afghanistan and Iraq.
We are fighting for the very heart and soul of our family. We are a people’s club not a franchise, We have protested through peaceful means by sit in protest and rallies and various email campaigns to make our point. If your beloved Red Sox club was in our situation I am sure you would not be sitting there twiddling your thumbs.
I haven’t come here to pick fight with anyone but I just want to clarify our stance. I just want to thank most of the broad-minded Red Sox fans for reassuring us of our concerns. All I am saying is that Sport events are supposed to bring people from different nations together in times of difficult international political climates. It would be great, we all respected each other and agreeing to disagree on certain issues.
