  2. Denverbrian, read my post carefully. Where did i deny they happened? I did not deny they happened. I denied, as the countless independent reviews have since, that is was because of the fans. If you must know, the reason so many died was because the stewards at the gate, in those days, did not record how many fans were entering the stadium. apart from that, the pitch used to be fenced off, to pretect the players. Very basically what happened was too many people were let in, and people at the front got crushed. Please research this topic. Lord Taylors Independant report absolved Liverpool FC of blame, and said there was nothing they could have done to prevent it, and no way they could have seen it coming. In fact, since then british stadium are the safest in the world. Now, no fences are allowed, there must be emergency exits direcly from the pitch to exit the stadium, and all fans must have seats. The Sun capitalised on their deaths to sell newspapers. Please tell me how a dirty tabloid like 'The Sun' is more qualified to make an accurate judgement of the greatest sporting tragedy that the world has seen?
  3. On a related note, the flag burning...Please, and i beg of you now, do not judge us on the actions of this stupid, stupid minority. During, and before, that demonstration, the fans were urged not to burn any flags. In fact, all but a few of the fans werevehemently against alienating 300million good, honest americans. the flag burning was committed by 3 or 4 lunatics, who were swifly arrested soon after. Not only that, but other liverpool fans in the crowd actively tried to put out those flames. i was there myself, and saw people using their own LFC jerseys to try and put out that fire. And those jerseys are sacred to us. Dont judge us on the actions of a few. Every sports team in the world has its hooligan fans. But thats no reason to write usoff. Give us a chance, and i promise you will be awed by what most football players will concede are the greatest football fans in the world.
  4. I see 'denverbrian' is obtaining all of his facts from 'The Sun'. For those of you who do not know, 'The Sun' is, and always has been, the most vehement anti-Liverpool FC newspaper, probably in the world. This stems from the Hillsborough Disaster (which, btw, several reports have since confirmed was more due to human error then anything else) after which every newspaper in the UK published facts alone, or published nothing. The Sun, however, wanted to profit, and sensationally fabricated a story incriminating liverpool fans, some of whome werent even at the game. The fact that every single one of their claims was refuted, proven to be a lie, and disproved in every sense possible never got as much press coverage as the initial story itself. Even to this day, The Sun prides itself on being a shameful, hate-filled rag, that exists only to profit from the misery of others. Since then, no store in the Merseyside County (comparable to a US State) has sold the Sun. The people of Liverpool, and Merseyside, hate the sun for their shameful profiteering over the death of 96 loyal fans. (FYI, these fans now have a holy place in the heart of Liverpool FC. See the two flames on the badge? That was in their honour. A flame burns at anfield for them too, and it will never go out) Since then, The Sun has never reported anyhting positive about LFC, and fans of rival groups often revel in the lies spouted by it. Denverbrians comments mirror those that you would find in the Sun, so should be taken with not just a pinch, but a truck sized amount of salt.
