  1. That's a no brainer mate, I personally want to see Rafa re instated as Gaffer. He has unfinished business at Anfield. I hate the way he was stabbed in the back and its a shame he wasn't given the chance to show just what he could do with decent owners backing him.
  2. Fifa is investigating allegations that two of its officials offered to sell their votes in the contest to host the 2018 World Cup. Reporters from The Sunday Times posed as lobbyists for a consortium of American companies who wanted to bring the tournament to the United States. They approached Amos Adamu, a Nigerian who serves as a Fifa executive committee member. He allegedly told reporters he wanted cash to build pitches in Nigeria. Continue reading the main story Related stories Mr Adamu, who is president of the West African Football Union, is said to have told the undercover journalists that he wanted $800,000 (?500,000) to build four artificial football pitches. This would be completely against Fifa's rules. The Sunday Times footage shows Mr Adamu wanting money to be paid to him directly for endorsing the US bid. In the video, he was asked whether the money for a "private project" would have an effect on the way he voted. Closely monitored He replied: "Obviously, it will have an effect. Of course it will. Because certainly if you are to invest in that, that means you also want the vote." Reynald Temarii, president of the Oceania Football Confederation, is also alleged to have asked for a payment, in his case to finance a sports academy. A statement from Fifa read: "Fifa and the Fifa Ethics Committee have closely monitored the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 Fifa World Cups and will continue to do so. "Fifa has already requested to receive all of the information and documents related to this matter, and is awaiting to receive this material. "In any case, Fifa will immediately analyse the material available and only once this analysis has concluded will Fifa be able to decide on any potential next steps. "In the meantime, Fifa is not in a position to provide any further comments on this matter." A European nation will definitely host the 2018 World Cup after the United States - the last remaining non-European bidder - pulled out of the race on Friday. Australia withdrew its candidature in June. Both will refocus their efforts on 2022. England will now battle it out with bids from Russia, Belgium/Netherlands and Spain/Portugal. A 24-strong committee will decide by secret ballot on 2 December who should host the tournaments.
  3. If we were in the top half of the league, I would agree with giving him a season to turn things round, sadly we aint. If we are still in the bottom ten come Xmas, then it has to be an early bath for Roy. I personally think he is out of his depth and treading water. :thumbdown
  4. If what I am hearing is true, Hicks doesn't have two pots to piss in. He has taken a hammering in the recent credit crunch. It couldn't happen to a better person. He is at this moment probably the most hated person in Liverpool since Adolf Hitler. :D:D
  5. If we dont, it will be Roy's ass that will be getting kicked. All the way back to Fulham.
  6. I did and didnt get a reply.
  7. Oh My poor head, was on the Italian red vino last night Billy and god am I suffering today. :thumbdown
  8. That's true, more good news, Man United dropped two points at home today.

  10. Everything about Tom Hicks is phoney.
  11. You are right mate, point taken. Between the hangover and over excitement got a bit carried away for a while.
  12. Well done, one in the eye for the blood sucker that is Tom Hicks.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
  13. It sure does feel good to have decent owners at long last, I wish I could say that I am feeling good at the moment but I am still recovering from the mother of all hangovers from last nights celebrations. LOL.

  15. Thomas Werner exclusive 16th Oct 2010 - Latest News http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/video/News-and-Interviews/10-11/Thomas-Werner-e-21763.php3 After meeting the manager and players at Melwood this morning, NESV Chairman Thomas Werner gave an exclusive interview to Liverpoolfc.tv. First of all Thomas, what was it that attracted NESV to Liverpool Football Club? I think that Liverpool is one of the great clubs in all of sport, it's history, it's tradition, it's fans - in some ways it's similar to the fans of the Boston Red Sox in that they're loyal, they're passionate and it's our good fortune to be stewards and we hope that we will take care of this extraordinary club and provide it with the resources and the commitment to win in the near future and hopefully restore some of its lustre. How relieved are you that the events of the past few days are over and that we can look forward? I think it's been a very interesting rollercoaster but now our focus is on stabilising the club. We've been with the players this morning and the manager and we introduced ourselves, told them that we're here to be supportive, to be constructive and we have a great history in Boston of providing the resources to win and we expect to do the same. How special was it to visit Melwood? Well we actually have been at Melwood before, we came here under the radar about four or six weeks ago, but it's always a pleasure to be around players because, after all, they are the heart and soul of the club and if we can give a message to our fans it is that we're going to be very supportive and we're going to listen. We look forward to spending the next few days here talking to various stakeholders and telling them about a little bit our track record and how we're going to go about our business. How confident are you that you'll be able to translate the success you've had in Boston into English football and lead Liverpool to success? I think one message I'd like to give is I'd rather under promise and over deliver. But if you look at our track record in Boston - and the Boston Red Sox have some similarities with Liverpool - we came into a situation where the club had not won actually for 86 years and we hope to win much faster than that. It's an honour to be here, we're humbled by this and we just want to tell our fans that we're going to listen to them, we're on their side and finally it's about winning on the pitch. There has been such an overwhelming reaction of joy among Liverpool fans since this deal went through - how does that make you feel? We are quietly confident but we would like to say to our fans that we are honest, we care, we're focused, we have brought great management into Boston and we look forward to doing whatever we can to strengthen the club. We can't wait to see everybody at Anfield. Author: Paul Eaton
  16. YES PEOPLE, the boycott of club merchandise is over. Its going to cost me a fortune now getting the kids kitted out in the new gear. But am glad to see the discount that's being offered though.
  17. Liverpool Football Club's new owner John Henry has spoken of his delight after New England Sports Ventures completed their purchase of the Reds. In an exclusive interview with Liverpoolfc.tv, Henry reveals his pride at the deal and explains why he believes NESV can lead the Club into an exciting new era. Click on the play button to watch a FREE video of our chat with John Henry or read the full transcript below First of all John, welcome to Liverpool Football Club... Thank you. I'm really happy to finally be here. How pleased are NESV to be our Club's new owner? We're incredibly pleased. Talking to all the partners in the States, they're extremely happy. It's been a dramatic few days - what have they been like from your point of view? It has been a dramatic few days, twists and turns, it's been stressful but finally we have it done and that was our goal and our hope. I'm extremely proud of this team that worked on this deal. Were you always confident this deal would go through? No. There were many days where I was wondering whether or not we'd be going home. In fact, even today I wasn't a hundred per cent confident. There were days where I was confident but there were a lot of twists and turns here. It was a terrific team - Martin, Ian, Christian - who did a tremendous job of managing this process and I'm just happy it ended successfully. Now the deal has been done and we can look forward, do you see similarities between Liverpool now and the Boston Red Sox team you took over? There are a lot of similarities and that was something we've been discussing as we started doing our due diligence. We found more and more similarities between Liverpool 2010 and the Red Sox of 2001. I won't go into them at this point, but for instance the stadium issue was a big issue in Boston in 2001 and we went in there not knowing what we should do, whether we should build a new ball park or refurbish Fenway. We have the same issue here. We have to listen, learn, talk to the community, talk to the council, talk with the supporters, but the biggest issue of all is really what makes the most sense for Liverpool long term. We're going to have to work very hard. There's a lot of work to be done to get this club to where it needs to be in the grand scheme of things. We really, through all the work we've done over the last two months, saw the challenges and problems which exist and we've got to work to address those. There is a great nucleus here off the field and on the field and we think we can build from that, but it's not going to be easy. We've got real challenges. Some Liverpool fans expressed concern when it emerged that their Club could be sold to a new set of Americans - can you understand those fears? I can, I absolutely can. It's been a tough three years and there were a lot of expectations created, so one thing I'm going to try not to do is to create a lot of expectations. I'm going to hopefully rather than make promises, deliver. When I say I, I mean New England Sports Ventures. We've got a very strong organisation, financially and otherwise, we have some terrific strategic thinkers and we're going to be attacking this head on starting tomorrow. A lot of Liverpool fans all over the world are very happy today - what's your message to them? All I can say at this point is we're going to work as hard for you as we possibly can and there's no doubt about it, you deserve it. You have supported this club through the worst of times now and we're going to do everything in our power to make the supporters proud of their club and of us. It's a big challenge but I think we're up for that challenge. Author: Paul Eaton
