According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, Francisco Rodriguez is willing to waive his 2012 vesting option if it makes a trade easier to complete.
The Mets are expected to attempt to move K-Rod later this summer, but he will be due $17.5 million next season if he finishes 55 games in 2011 and that could deter potential suitors. Unless, like Martino's source claims, Rodriguez is willing to waive that option. The acquiring team would then have to be willing to discuss a long-term deal with the 27-year-old right-hander.
