Hi, I'm new to this forum, but it seems polite to say hello from England. So, good morning, evening or afternoon, as I'm confused by time difference to Arizona. I'm going to guess it's quite early in the morning

I spend a lot of time over the bridge in Wales, as my wife is originally from Newport. To most people in the USA Baseball rules are second nature, unfortunately watching baseball in the UK is only available via a subscription TV channel, or via the web. Unless you have a reason to start watching baseball, then it you aren't going to go out of your way to start watching.

My picture is of Bristol City's home stadium, Ashton Gate, with Bristol Suspension Bridge in the background. Red seems to play a strong role in my support towards sporting teams!

A team in transition, but not relegation material. They are an average team that finish mid-table, after mixed results. Sometimes beat the better teams, but lose to lesser quality teams. I haven't been to Ewood Park yet

I have a season ticket to watch Bristol City in the division below the English Premier League. I'm also a member of EnglandFans. I have watched matches at 70 different stadiums in England and travelled most European countries to watch football. The main thing I don't understand about Baseball is the differences between the American and National Leagues. I know that the DH doesn't do outfield play in the American League, and the Pitcher gets to bat in the National League, but when and why was it decided that say the Yankees are in the AL and the Mets are in the NL?

Most rules, but every now and then there are a few things I don't understand. The more I watch the more I learn. It's like being a kid and learning a new sort. Probably the same for most guys in the US watching football (soccer) from UK. The game can be fast and something obvious to a learned fan, can confuse a guy that's learning.

I would like to learn more about the game and I chose the Red Sox as my team last year, after staying up to watch the all-star game which lasted for ages. I had 1 hours sleep before work. I was hooked! I got a Jersey imported at a high cost. To show my alliegence my wife imported my cap, at yet again, a high cost. In the UK the ESPN America channel televises 2 or 3 games a week and I try to watch as much as possible. I was contemplating subscribing to MLB At Bat this year, but wonder if it's worth it? I used to play for the Bristol Black Sox in the UK about 15 years ago, but the team dispanded due to the high costs and lack of money. We were all too young and finding our careers.

Hello from the UK, I've just arrived on the forum and guided towards posting a newbie introduction. I'm planning to watch more Sox games this year and get my Sox Jersey on regularly, ESPN permitting. Unfortunately they have to show an unbiassed schedule. It doesn't help that the time difference here means that many games start at midnight/3am. Something I have to deal with! I have decided to get information from this forum, rather than trying to scale through the endless amounts of useless information that can be gained from trudging through the inter-web. Is there anyone that is willing to help a guy out on a limb? Please bear with me a little, as I'm sure there are kids of 3 years old that know more than I do about Baseball.
