    The coverage of this series has been much better than the Tampa series. When Tampa pitching was up, they would talk about how good the pitcher on the mound was. When Tampa hitting was up, they would talk about how good the tamp hitter was. When there wasn't much else to be said, they'd romanticize about what it would be like to date Maddon. This one has been a bit less biased, I'd argue.

    Trust me, a cold slimy Fenway Frank in late October tastes better than any hot dog you'll ever eat:p That being said, $6 for those personal pizzas is a pretty good deal -- it fills you up, and you don't end up spending your life savings on food.

    With the exception of Wainwright, none of those guys hold a candle to Scherzer, Verlander, Sanchez.

    Some players transition to the majors seamlessly without having to go through big inconsistencies as they adjust to big league pitching. Unfortunately, WMB is not one of those guys-- yet, his counting stats have been impressive. I'd love to give Drew a qualifiying offer and try to rotate him with XB and WMB, but the front office may just hand Middlebrooks the starting job again.

    I just noticed that the Cardinals have 4 righties in the rotation, whereas the Dodgers have 2 of each. Cards could be a better matchup.

    His numbers since the All-star break... .276/.329/.476/.805 with 8 home runs in 41 games.

    Thanks! I'm really just kidding -- my girlfriend says she is buying me tickets. I am a bit concerned though... the Red Sox lost on my birthday in a game 7 not too long ago, and it was a bit of a bummer.

    So, my birthday is coming up soon. I would really like to go to the ALCS in Boston this year. *hint hint*

    I was thinking about Middlebrooks the other day, and was thinking of making a very similar post. I couldn't believe that despite his struggles, Middlebrooks still put up 30+ homers and 100 rbis in his first 167 games in the major leagues. Until the Red Sox got into Detroit, he was having a very solid ALDS sporting a .375 OBP, but running into this long string of righthanders in Detroit (and possibly St. Louis) will hurt his production for the rest of the playoffs.

    Hey Talksox. I'm only a few days from turning 20-something. I'm going to hold Talksox ransom, mentioning my birthday every single post until someone buys me an ALCS Game 6 ticket.

    I watched that homer six times, and I didn't even notice the cop with his arms up until the 5th. My eyes were that focused on the ball.

    If Uehara goes 2 full innings, and Breslow goes 1+, the Red Sox could have three full innings to try to dig into Detroit's bullpen. Would love to see it in the bottom of the 9th!

    I turned off the game.... turned it back on to see Big Papi hit a grand slam. Holy s***, he is the greatest clutch hitter of all time. That was magical.

    Why haven't the Red Sox been trying to bunt to the left side more? They can't make any contact whatsoever so it seems worth a shot.
