  1. He made his first start yesterday and pitched well. What's the plan here? Middle relief? Set up guy once Bard takes over as closer?
  2. That's just because Dice K can't make it out of the second inning.
  3. Why the hell did Garza close this one out
  4. I know that Ells, Drew VMart and Pedroia are all expected to return, some sooner than others, but can this team really survive this rash of injuries? Are we really expecting these players to play 100% when they return? I think this past series showed just how out of gas they really are. We were all hoping they could tread water until the injuries passed, but now it looks like they're sinking fast. Seriously, who is Eric Patterson and why is he playing CF for the Red Sox?
  5. He can hit pretty well for a pitcher. He played OF up until College....which was 30 years ago for him but still.
  6. Dustin's going to put a few into the Cove. Anyone up for some kayaking?
  7. Who's out there that could immediately help this team? Are we looking at a potentially large trade to fix these holes? Or should we just pray that Papelbon turns it around and MDC defects to Canada?
  8. I have to say that's a pretty fair assessment for a Yankees fan. No one would have expected this team to be hitting this well given our injuries and our current starting lineup. The real question is how many games you expect the Yankees to win. 300?
  9. Didn't Isner lose in the shortest game of the tournament today? That figures.
  10. I'm very glad that I stayed up to watch this game. I have to admit though, I was convinced that Paps was going to blow it in the bottom of the 10th. I was thinking it would be pretty typical to have an amazing offensive feat masked by two bullpen implosions. Oh well, here's to the team being able to ride the momentum.
  11. I'm willing to bet that the sun will be a factor in this game at some point
  12. Chacin looks like he's going to be tough. The last time the Red Sox were in Denver they won the World Series.
  13. I have nothing pessimistic to say.
  14. Nancy flashing the bat
  15. How about a strike out and a leaping catch in center? I hate being right.
  16. I think the backdrop at Fenway now confirms this. I was about to make a post about it but saw this thread instead. Is it still the same teams playing?
  17. This thread is lacking pessimism. Who wants to bed the Red Sox don't capitalize on these first two baserunners?
  18. Why is it that the Red Sox continually struggle against weaker opponents? This season the team is 12-11 against sub .500 teams. They've shown flashes of high quality play, and this team is good enough to own a better record than 4-5 against the Orioles. In looking for the 12-11 stat I just was reminded that the sox are 1-7 in extra innings games. Holy crap!
  19. World cup. Celtics game 6. I think this is going to be the most ignored game of the season. Hopefully we don't miss a perfect game.
  20. Cautious optimism about Dice K probably means that he'll be out for the remainder of this season and the next.
  21. This team can't keep relying on scrubs. Eventually they're going to play like we expect them to play. Hopefully our injured players are back to 100% by then but I'm expecting problems down the road.
