Daniel Bard said Friday that he's no longer a starting pitcher.
The writing was already on the wall, but Bard made it official Friday. In fact, he said he recently called Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington to say that he believes he belongs as a relief pitcher. The 26-year-old right-hander has been a little shaky during his time with Triple-A Pawtucket, posting a 7.36 ERA and 10/2 K/BB ratio over 7 1/3 innings, but he figures to rejoin the Red Sox bullpen during the second half.
