  1. Fine, then I'll delete the post?
  2. If that's worthy of any ban then I won't be back to the site period. :dunno: If not though I'll continue posting, I like the site. Anyways so that this doesn't digress I think Gonzalez will be a decent addition but I'm still weary of his defense and his offense doesn't really have any upside at all. There wasn't much else out there though, realistically.
  3. Neuman > Almonte and Neuman was of legal age.
  4. Haha yeah he's apaprently like a basketball player now. Anyone remember Dennis Neuman from the Netherland Antilles team in 2002? http://www.littleleague.org/series/2002divisions/llbb/teams/caribbean/images/DNeuman.jpg http://www.littleleague.org/series/2002divisions/llbb/gamestories/17saturday/game7/1.jpg He now pitches for the Greenville Drive (our A affiliate) believe it or not. http://www.soxprospects.com/players/images/neuman.dennis.jpg
  5. Jacoby_Ellsbury has 30 posts in this thread defending Gonzalez. No need. He's going to be a bench player for us.
  6. It's a fair assesment but quite frankly he has ZERO competition. Would he have the numbers he does if he played head to head with some of the other golf legends? His biggest competition is Phil Mickelson, an absolute joke.
  7. Question: How many players not on the roster's contracts are we currently eating right now? It seems like too many.
  8. Ultimate Zone Rating "The number of runs above or below average a fielder is in both range runs and error runs combined." - Fangraphs He would be second in the majors at SS with that UZR this season.
  9. UZR in 2006 11.8 UZR now 2.0
  10. People thought Gonzalez was a good defensive SS in 2006. It's been injuries that have set him back. There's a reason the 4th place REDS placed him on waivers.
  11. Did you see some of the lineups we put out there in 2000?
  12. I think he finishes 7 innings, I don't see any more though. I think the Detroit hitters are making it a point to get him out of the game as quick as possible knowing he's willing to waste pitches with his breaking balls, leading to 3-2 counts even if they aren't getting on base. They figure if they can get past Beckett they have a chance.
  13. Ump's squeezing him a bit. Pitch count is dangerously high around 70 pitches. Not that he can't go 120 but he's been filthy.
  14. Such ******** that people are complaining about this. Be a little less liberal won't you? It was exciting and sent a jolt of energy through the entire team. He'll miss 5 or 6 games, in which we'll have Mike Lowell and Casey Kotchman in to fill the void. Youk's one of our best hitters but if Bay gets going (as he has been as of late) and the rest of the lineup gets going we should be fine. We don't need to depend on one hitter. I agree with whoever compared this to the Tek thing. It's one win now and likely a 5 or 6 game suspension but it could lead to a little winning streak. We have Beckett going tomorrow against their #5 starter, a 3-game winning streak and possibly a sweep could go a long way down the road. Plus, the people who say "the suspension would coincide with the Yankee series"..he could just appeal it and then begin serving it after that series is over..
  15. Good outing for Tazawa. He's gonna be a nice piece to add to the rotation in 2010 hopefully. I see a lot of guts in him that tell me he belongs up h ere next year from the beginning. I've started looking out for those intangibles since Buchholz's demise in 2008 more than ever.
  16. Since this is the catch all PAPELBON thread..did anybody see Jonathan making public demands for his brother Josh to be traded or promoted a few days ago? It kinda went under the radar..probably because Josh is a bum that will never make it to bigs but still..wow.. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2009/08/09/lowrie_on_dl_with_nerve_injury_in_his_wrist/?page=2
  17. I just think with all the "Oh no, the season is over!" talk A LOT of people are forgetting how great of a season Beckett is having and how he can practically carry the team whenever he wants.
  18. We complain about Tito in July and August, then sing his praises in October. I'm upset with him too but that's what we do every year. I'm not saying it's easy to help it but we do it, it's human nature. I think he's earned his pay looking at the whole body of work of the 2009 season...despite losing 6 in a row we're still 14 games above .500 and are setting ourselves up to be healthy and make a good run for the next two months. Just being in the thick of things should be good enough, with the recent organizational success we're spoiled and want to be in 1st place in the AL East for the full 162 games but that's not how things work.
