  1. really? a couple of 5th place teams talking smack? now i've seen it all
  2. wow! can't believe i waited this long to log back in over here. College Football is by far my favorite sport. We're more than halfway through the season, and I've missed a pretty good thread. Auburn/Ole Miss just started. I truly hate both of these teams and not sure who I want to win. I think it benefits LSU for ole Miss to win this one, but I'm gonna cling to hope that a meteor, tornado, and earthquake all hit the Auburn campus at the same time.
  3. not a whole lot of options down here MLB: Ballpark in Arlington saw a few exhibition games in the Superdome in New Orleans NFL: Superdome Saw Saints play at LSU the year Katrina hit College Football: Tiger Stadium (LSU) Superdome Guidry Stadium (Nicholls St. in Thibodaux, Louisiana) Minor League Baseball: Zephyr Field (New Orleans) Whataburger Field (Corpus Christi Hooks) College Baseball: Alex Box Stadium (the old one) Didier Field (Nicholls St.) Superdome Zephyr Field NBA Superdome New Orleans Arena

  5. I thought it was quite enjoyable
  6. Tigers going to Omaha!!!!
  7. I'm definitely with you on the Ole Miss thing. Arky is now officially going to Omaha winning it in the 9th (didn't watch game or see official report, so if my bro-in-law lied to me about the result, I apologize. yes and no. had tickets to the Tulane game. Me and the wife went out there, watched BP, got us some food, etc. Then the rain started. Game was postponed until next night, and we couldn't make it out there. So yeah, I've been in it, but haven't seen a game there yet. Oh yeah, it is VERY nice. I didn't realize how much of a dump the old Box was until I got inside this one. There is even going to be an LSU baseball Hall of Fame inside eventually. Concourse is HUGE, lots more covered seats, bleachers down the baselines all have backs to them now. Massive HD scoreboard in left field. Same dimensions as the old one. The intimidator hasn't made the trip to the new one yet, but Mainieri said he hopes it does. Rumour has it that there is going to be a levee out in right field with general admission seating.
  8. Hell of a game! Ole Miss wins it 4-3 on a walk-off blast in the 14th. Had to leave the office to get to the place I was gonna watch LSU/Rice, so I didn't get to see the 13th and 14th innings. But I saw the replay of that guy's homer. Geez he crushed that ball! I'm kinda torn on this one. I really and truly dislike anything and everything to do with Ole Miss. But winner of our Super plays winner of this one in 1st round at Omaha. I think we matchup better against the Rebels than we do Virginia. Do you live in Mississippi and have to deal with their fans on a regular basis? So far, SEC schools are 3-0 in Supers (LSU, Ole Piss, and Arky), with Florida playing their game 1 today. Would be interesting to see 4 SEC school make the trip (especially since we beat all 3 of the others 2 outta 3 during the season ).
  9. Todd Walker watched most of his college career at LSU. when he went to Boston, I became a Sox fan. he was just selected for the College Baseball Hall of Fame this year (induction ceremony is next month).
  10. throw Bama into that mix. Bama is done, Arky advances, and Ole Miss has to play tonight. LSU swept through their regional, waiting for the winner of the Rice/Kansas St game tonight. Hoping like hell to get into the ballpark for Supers this weekend.
  11. 150 posts now? or 150 posts on September 27 (last game of contest)? if I got 'til that last game, I'm going with 163. If I'm elligible, cool. If not, just ignore this post.
  12. 15th post, so pic should work now... Excuse the poor quality, my phone doesn't take great pics http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e117/Nutriaitch/IMG00023.jpg
  13. nah, haven't been to Tulane's stadium yet, but it is in the plans for next season. it was completely remodeled before last season (may have been season before that). From all accounts, it is a really nice ballpark. Their baseball team is consistenly a pretty good club, so they have a good following (i.e. good cash flow from supporters), which helps them to have nice facilities in baseball. ok, that's enough nice things about LSU's biggest baseball rival. Hope LSU kicks the dog s*** outta them tonight.
  14. just a fan of LSU. Born and raised a couple hours from campus, and been going to football and baseball games there since '86. why would anyone do something like that to themselves? nah seriously, Tulane is a damn good school (academically speaking, they're LSU's bitches in athletics ). Getting a degree from Tulane is something to be proud of.
  15. when i tried to post it, I got a message saying there was a 15 post minimum before I could upload any pics or post any links. something about helping to prevent spam, or people joining simply to pimp their own websites.
  16. D.J. LeMahieu (2B, SS) decent ball player, better than average at the plate, not great range in the field (we just moved him from short to 2b last week becausee of this). May leave after this year since he'll be 21 come draft day Jared Mitchell (OF) might be the fastest guy in college baseball, great baserunner(has mental lases sometimes), really good defender. Looking like he'll leave since his draft stock as risen considerably in baseball while his playing time in football is almost non-existant Ryan Schimpf (OF) quality guy, but really quiet, gets very little publicity, just moved from 2b to outfield last week when DJ lost his SS job. Possible he'll leave, but may stick around to improve draft stock. Sean Ochinko (1B) thig guy was on FIRE earlier this year. when he gets hot, he just goes off for week or so at a time, can catch or play 1st adequately. Toss up on him leaving, depends if he's still interested in splitting time at 1st and C with Micah Gibbs.
  17. yeah, living in south Louisiana, I don't get to see much MLB in person, (Houston is 6.5 hours from here is the closest) so this is by far the closest I've been to anything to do with the Red Sox. thanks
  18. I apoligize for this loss. Just got home, turned on the TV, and only saw one pitch, that last one.
  19. I went to the LSU/Tulane game tonight (dam thing got rained out though). While at the ballpark, I was sitting in the concourse area when I noticed 3 fellers with MLB scout credentials. One for the Rangers, on whose logo was hidden, and one from the Sox! The Sox scout was wearing his Championship ring from the '04 season. He actually let me check it out and take a picture of it! (I'll upload the photo when after I reach the 15 post minimum this site requires) I prolly sound like a loser, but it was kinda a big deal for me to see something like that. Asked if there was any particular he was there to see. He wasn't real specific, just said that there was 3-4 guys from LSU he was gonna watch, and that Tulane's starter (Aaron Loup) was "ok". Just wanted to share that with y'all.
  20. Yep. That '03 team was fun to watch. I enjoyed the scrappiness of that group (still have it just with a different cast now). Something about a group of scruffy guys that didn't belong giving the buttoned up, business as usual Yanks seven kinds of hell, really drew me to this team. I've hated the Yankees long as I remember, so maybe it was just natural to become a Sox fan.
