I have to say that after ragging on Penny for the first month of the season, I've come around. He's a serviceable 4 or 5 starter.

To which athlete do you refer?

Look, you all are way more on top of the statistics of the game than I will ever be. I mentioned Carew because he is the best hitter I ever saw play. Mauer is, apparently, a prolific talent. I hope he hits .380-.400. I just don't see it happening. Not because he doesn't have the talent, it's just not (statistically) likely to happen. By the way, Tony Oliva was pretty good too. And, I'd LOVE to see Mauer in a Sox uniform.

You assume that he was on top. I'd be hittin' her from all angles, if I were in his POSITION.

No one in the majors will hit .400 this year. He'll hit about .330-.338 at best. He hasn't had enough at bats this season to reasonably project that he will produce Williams type numbers.
