  1. How about starting pitching depth? Currently, the Sox have Wake and Doubront. If Doubront is traded, who replaces him?
  2. Done. Wesleyan, ehh? He''l do well in any case.
  3. "One". Congratulations. You had the opportunity to see (to some degree) a truly great player. "Two". I've stated my opinion of Manny numerous times on Talksox. Review this thread if in doubt. And "Three". Being an intelligent, well educated person is a responsibility. And an opportunity. If you are more knowledgeable about a topic, (emphasis on MORE), all would be better served if you would explain your opinion and/or the facts to members that you view as inferior or of lessor intellect. Rather than trying to demean them. You are a Father, I hope you have some experience in these situations.
  4. I don't think the Sox will sign Werth or Crawford. Too much money, too many years. But in the unlikely scenario that Crawford signs, he'll be the best (and most exciting) left fielder the Sox have had since Yaz. No offense to Rice and Gator.
  5. Possibly. If true, Jeter and his agent are on drugs. Papi thinking he's worth more than $12.5! :D Meanwhile, I need a job. By the way, do you want my Honda lawn mower and snow blower for free? And the ladders.
  6. I agree. In used the word "arguable" as a disclaimer.
  7. I knew it! "Your' a bag lapping Mets fan. Mr. "behind enemy lines". Ha! Forty five years of "Sox" fandom. ********! You are mid-island scum. You know nothing! Take a viagra and play with some tortes.
  8. Sensible post. Although I'd prefer Crawford. And I don't believe the Sox will get in on either if it means a 5-8 year contract. Especially if it's Werth.
  9. I'd like to offer a belated welcome to Talksox. We've needed a new class clown for some time here!
  10.:lol: Owned by a seventeen year old! "On Topic". Agreed. 6/150 is insane. 3/45 is insane too. But I can see why the Yankees made the offer. Jeter is arguably the most significant Yankee since Mantle. I'd like to say that I applaud what the Yankees have done here. But I just can't. If they REALLY wanted to play hard ball, they would have offered 2/ 9-12 AAV.. And that would have been "fair" given his age and recent performance. And of course what he means to Yankee fans and the Yankee bottom line. Subjectively, I've always liked Jeter. He's always played tough and "the right way". He's always been a good citizen (from what I know), and has always been respectful of the game and everything his position entails. Plus, he put the wood to a young (attractive) Miriah Cary! Ultimately, he's a non-essential component for the Yankees. They would still like to keep him around, but they realize they will remain competitive without him.
  11. I am enjoying this Jeter folly. It doesn't matter who fired the first salvo. Jeter's agent is guilty of malfeasance. And Jeter has a case of Papi-itis. No team in their right mind will offer more than the Yankees. He's a 36 y.o. SS worth 6-9 mil for 2 years at most. His value is best realized in pinstripes. Hence the generous 3/45 offer from the Yankees.
  12. I'd rather see Kalish in left, even though I believe he should start the year in Pawtucket. I have two concerns with Beltran. Buy-in price, and health. Of course, a700 has more knowledge about the Mets, so I won't dismiss the idea. For one year.
  13. Too bad he injured his ribs and missed so much time. His numbers would have been even better.
  14. That would me my guess.
  15. Oh well. I think something else is in the works. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox made a trade for a catcher. Someone younger and with better defensive skills.
  16. Upton had a stellar 2009 but his numbers across the board dropped off in 2010. Why? Was or is he injured?
