  1. This from Cafardo in today's Globe: 8. J.D. Drew, RF, Red Sox — He had some lingering hamstring issues this offseason and may be slowed up a tad to start spring training. The Sox have Ryan Kalish ready to go as Drew’s eventual replacement in right field, as this is the last season of Drew’s five-year, $72 million contract. He gave indications last spring that this could be his last year in baseball but backed off that when he felt healthy during the season. He still appears to have something left in the tank at age 35, going into his 14th season.
  2. Maybe ignorance is bliss.
  3. Danial Nava took HGH!!!!!!!!!!! Oh wait, a Doctor prescribed it for him. Geez.
  4. An MiLB contract is nothing. Throw enough s*** against the wall and something may stick.
  5. Hope his foot is OK.
  6. Yawn.
  7. Who's being pessimistic? I think the Sox are loaded for bear. But there is cause for concern. That's just being pragmatic. Lester's slow starts are a separate issue.
  8. Rationalize your comments any way you want to. The Sox starting lineup from 2010 was devastated by injury. Major injury. The only remaining starter not to sustain an injury not meriting concern is (oddly), J.D. Drew. And he had a bad (for him) year. Bury your heads in the sand. Or keep them firmly planted up your asses. It does not matter. The Sox are damaged goods. And until each player returns to their normal level of production, the injuries will remain a concern to enlightened fans.
  9. I started this thread on 12/23/10 and everything I stated in my first post was accurate as of that date. I also said that this thread could serve as an on-going discussion of Sox injuries and how the team compensates for them throughout the 2011 season. I guess there are some intellectually challenged members that did not read the first post. This thread serves a purpose. If you don't like the topic, move on an keep your lame comments to yourself.
  10. Welcome to the rouge state.
  11. Good luck Doc..
  12. Fascinating story on Dustin Pedroia [stats] by former Herald scribe Rob Bradford on WEEI.com last week. While Pedroia is normally one giant ball of bravado, he was very candid in admitting that he lives in fear of reinjuring his surgically repaired left foot. He also acknowledged that this season is going to be one long attempt at managing the injury, which still gives him pain. “My thing is that I have to save bullets in different ways,” Pedroia told Bradford. “Like stretching. I can’t go out and stretch for 45 minutes in spring training. I can’t take the wear and tear. I have to go out there and use all the energy and pounding in the right areas. I can’t go out there and stretch for 45 minutes and be tired for the game. That’s stupid.” As I said, Pedroia is my biggest concern.
  13. I predict that the Red Sox will play baseball this year.
  14. This is a good trade for Sox fans. Say what you will about his bloated contract but Vernon Wells is a perennial Sox Killer. I'll miss seeing him play so often, but I'm glad that he's gone from the AL East.
