  1. Looking at the spray chart I can see your point. It looks like about half of the fly balls that he fouls off to the right would be in the stands in Fenway. I don't know how much that will translate into an increased BA or BABIP. We'll see!
  2. Not necessarily. It could be just wishful thinking. No disrespect intended Pal.
  3. Maybe a spray chart could substantiate this idea. How many times did Cespedes foul out in Oakland? His approach is what will dictate his BA most likely.
  4. I'm not sure that the Sox brass is aiming at the playoffs in 2015. To them, in my opinion, salvaging next year means pacifying the masses and putting butts in the seats. Getting Cespedes is one move ( likely among several ) that the Sox will make to accomplish this. Meanwhile prospects continue to be accumulated and mature within the system. Of course, like everyone here, I am speculating. This is my opinion.
  5. Do you really believe that the Sox are thinking this? Make those moves just because of his arm?
  6. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!1!! NO.
  7. You make some valid points. Amen.
  8. I'm sort of "meh" about this trade. The bulk of the current Sox fans ( casual or pink hat ) will blow loads over this deal because of the highlight reel plays and maybe the HR derbys. I won't. Cespedes is a hack defensively ( although his speed and arm make up for some of his questionable play in lf ). His is close to the antithesis of the "work the count / OBP" hitter the Sox like to have. Most of his offensive numbers , BA, OBP, SLG, OPS, OPS+, HR, SB, as examples have gone down each year since he has been up with Oakland. He Ks a lot and he hardly ever walks. He is a right handed batter with power but I don't see him as a big time power hitter. Maybe a Beltre type ( without the great defense ). Never the less, the fans will go gaga over him near term. The Sox FO are now going to be "selling the sizzle". Of course I could have my head firmly planted in my rectum. Maybe he is exactly what this team needs???? I don't thinks so. Cespedes is a stopgap player. The real bopper has yet to be landed. I have little faith that the Sox will make a serious effort to get Lester back. But who knows? Good bye Johnny Gomes. Thanks for the good memories.
  9. Baseball is milking this to the max. It reminds me of the season that McGwire made his juice field run in a way. I have nothing bad to say about Jeter, really. I just get sick of all this bag lapping.
  10. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!1!!! I can't find any mention of this anywhere on line.
  11. Of course Napoli just about tore his finger off while sliding into second base but hey, that happens every day to most players.
  12. Lol. If the Sox get rid of all of the players you don't like there won't be anyone left on the 25 man.
  13. Same here Ted. The only thing worse than watching this team is going through a divorce ( or being married to a Russian sociopath ). You can't wait for it to end.
  14. Where did you hear this?
  15. I think that Theo made a good move. Doubront is cost controlled for a few years. If he can get his act together ( we have only seen this in a few small samples ), then the Cubs have a decent mid-rotation pitcher for a few years that he can trade off to another team for something of value. The buy in was low from what we can tell. He should do somewhat better in the NL but if he doesn't, then he can still be moved for a bag of balls later or DFA'ed. Felix is a known commodity to Theo so I doubt the Cubs have huge aspirations for the guy.
  16. I can see your point. Few people question his talent. It's his brain that is his shortcoming.
  17. I'm sure that Theo is well aware of his less than dedicated mindset. I wonder who the PTBNL will be? There was a point about 3-4 years ago when Doubront was seen as having the best stuff in the organization. I think that the Sox signed him when he was very young. Something like 16 y.o. In any case, the kid is immature and just does not get it when it comes to the commitment it takes to be a successful MLB pitcher. Showing up to ST overweight was only one example of this. Bitching about his recent demotion was another. I'm glad that he is gone. I just wonder in the face of this fire sale of starting pitchers, who will be in the rotation for the rest of this year and even more importantly, who will fill those slots for 2015 and forward.
  18. Thanks. I just figured that out!! Lol.
  19. Pal would you please tell me your source for this info? I watch the boston.com and ESPN Boston sights but they are way behind on breaking developments. Thanks!
  20. Let's hope that Betts and Swihart remain in the minors for at least one full season in AAA. Vasquez was brought up out of need but he is probably not ready either. The jump from AAA to MLB pitching is substantial. The pitchers in the bigs have much better secondary pitches and command so a young hitter is less likely to see a mistake to hit. I'm no expert by any means. But we have witnessed young hitters struggling when promoted a lot in the recent past.
  21. Yeah. I just did it as a joke. You probably saw the same photo on boston.com I hope that it doesn't happen but I fear the worst!
  22. A sign of life! RUNS!!!!!!
