  1. I think that it was a good trade for both teams. Because I think that I am more familiar with the Sox, I'd say that our team made out well. I believe that Hanigan costs a little more but we will be getting a guy who can play twice as many games as Ross if called upon to do so. I think Swihart is a year away. Not sure, though. That means only Butler is in the system to call up.
  2. But the odd thing is that Hanigan is making over $4. mil/yr I believe. Whatever.
  3. You couldn't resist, could you?
  4. I'm glad to see Prado leave because I want them to have another hole at 2nd base. I like what he brought to the field.
  5. Just took a peak at Ryan Hanigan's offensive numbers. His production has tailed-off noticeably over the past two years. Don't know if injury has anything to do with that. It seems that the more he plays, the more AB, the better he hits by a large margin. He is also accustomed to playing 80-110 games a year. So if Vasquez struggles badly or becomes injured, it seems that the Sox now have a decent back-up catcher. Of course I could use a chart a la Jacko and tell you that he will have a 2010 year again and hit .300 !!!! No offense, Doc.
  6. I just heard that Ross is about to sign with the Padres. Lol. Musical back-up catchers. Best of luck to David Ross. He was a nice guy to have around even if he was a Mendoza type hitter.
  7. I'd be surprised if the Yankees are going to wait two years for anything. Thay at least must appear that they are building a team to compete in 2015. Just my opinion.
  8. And rejoice!!!
  9. In any case the Celts don't appear to be getting dramatically better anytime soon. Of course Danny could pull on out of his ass and stun us all.
  10. No one around here has seen very much of him. Including the Red Sox brass.
  11. I still believe that Detroit can take Scherzer if they decide to pony up. I never believe anything that the Yankees FO say in situations like this. I do not see Scherzer coming to the Sox in any case.
  12. It is said to be a bad place to see a game but I've always wanted to go there to watch the Sox and yell all types of stuff because the place is cavernous and usually quite empty. I'd like to Heckle someone like that clown with the "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMAN" rant from behind home plate. Remember that ass clown? I've never seen a game form inside a domed stadium. I would like to try it once.
  13. Bump. Just saw this good article by Edes on Castillo. I'm posting it for those that may not have seen it yet. I like learning about this kid. I have not been convinced that he was MLB ready. It could be that I am very wrong. I definitely hope so. http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/red-sox/post/_/id/41395/cora-on-castillo-hes-not-a-prima-donna
  14. Like Pal, I too wonder who will be packaged along with Craig from the Sox?
  15. I'm pretty sure that very few even care. David Ross has had interest by a few teams. My guess is that he lands with the Cubs and becomes Lester's catcher for 30 games and maybe 10-15 more games as a back-up. Too bad. I think that he could have been had for cheap and he probably would have been good enough to back-up Vasquez for 2015. I wonder if Theo goes more than one year? I kind of doubt it but I see him outbidding the Sox now.
  16. Well assuming that his thumb is fully healed and that range of motion and strength are back to normal I can see him resuming production at or near his career numbers. You are probably right, though. He can't control being hit in the hand by a pitch but his aggressive style of play does seem to increase the likelihood that he will sustain an injury more frequently than some players.
  17. I think that would be Kendry Moralis and Stephen Drew.
  18. The El Phoenix was outstanding Tex-Mex. Back in the mid to late 70's my friends and I would go there every payday for dinner. The Cheese and Pepper Nachos were great. Not very Mexican being made of Land O Lakes white American cheese and peperocini peppers but they were very tasty dipped in the hot sauce ( almost entirely composed of crushed red peppers ). You are correct. Bottled Rolling Rock ice cold seemed to be the house drink at least when eating food. The Chilli Cheese Enchiladas were my first taste of good Tex-Mex and to this day remain my standard for it's ilk. The atmosphere was very casual. The upper room was the dinning room. It was usually very noisy with patrons talking very loudly about all sorts of stuff and of course the Juke Box which was controlled by selections at each table. I think I must have heard Lola ( Kinks ), Wild Side ( Lou Reed ), and Sympathy For The Devil ( Stones ) hundred of times while dining there. It was great stoner food and atmosphere. Of course Parking was a hassle on Com Ave.! I really miss that place.
  19. 25 is still young given his skill set. . The promise of his kind of power intoxicates baseball people. Oh, and I kind of agree that he has not been all that impressive. Now he has to get back totally from injury.
  20. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!1!!!11 But at least we all now know how Fred feels about Larry Luchino.
  21. Eat well before the game then!!!! Everything at Fenway is very expensive compared to street costs. Although you should probably just eat at the park to be able to "enjoy the Fenway Experience".
  22. Yes, I realize that. I was just thinking aloud about how it would change the complexion of the game. That's all.
  23. And they had the foresight or greed to purchase the air rights to over the Pike extension. They could easily build there or even swallow up the lots on Brookline Ave. and offer cheaper parking prices. Of course this would be an awful lot ( pun ) to ask of those greedy dicks. They do not care about making the Fenway experience affordable for the common fan.
  24. Maybe not and I did not mean to say that it was. HOWEVER!!!!! If the Sox ownership had the balls to put up a new ballpark like most modern American cities bigger than Yazoo then maybe there would be cheaper ancillary lots and garages????
  25. It would be cool to see non-guaranteed contract and such a la NFL in MLB. Just imagine the turnover!!!
