He's going to get his at bats whether he is the starter or not right now. He's eventually going to play his way into the starting job but he's pretty damn valuable as a utility man in the mean time. No need to rush him into the gig and and chance it that he fails miserably. Then we are stuck with Scutaro.

Lowrie isn't exactly an iron man and I have no problem with the current rotation for the SS position. This team isn't struggling this bad because of the SS position, the pitching needs to step it up.
At this point in their careers I think he gives you a better at bat vs a RHP. Lowrie obviously has the higher upside and most likely will take the job over at some point this year but there are many times where you can tell a pitcher has read the scouting report on Lowrie and attacks his weaknesses leading to a ton of K's vs righties.
